Alas, I was very disappointed by the comparison. In the same test on the same TV with home theater, the BDP 2930 reader has been very significantly worse than the top model and this, for a gap of relatively moderate price. I find also really slow.
True, the picture is much more beautiful than through a DVD player but it has a sacred quality difference in the treatment of the image between the two devices. For example, the test on the long Blu Ray version of "Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship of the Ring" is very telling: whether in terms of color rendering or fine grain, the comparison is very unfavorable to the Philips BDP 2930! Same as regards sound. Tests conducted with other Blu Ray give the same results.
Moreover, from the first day of use the device is locked (freeze) repeatedly and to stop it, I had no choice but to unplug it! Ouch, that started badly ... You'll understand, I had to return the model and order the top model as a replacement.
Positive, however: the communication with Easylink Philips or Toshiba TV works.
My point is, however, not to denigrate this model but I just want to share some important differences between same brand models.
In summary, if it is to enter the world of Blu-ray 2D to very tight prices, hoping that the problem of recurring bugs was due only to bad luck, this player is correct but nothing more. I can decently give it more than two stars, especially compared with what his elder Philips BDP 3380 for a barely higher budget.
