There was a time when the training is in waiting seems much less developed, distilled a vaguely progressive rock of inspiration where Bowie influences crossed himself, Jethro Tull, The Who, Pink Floyd or even Donovan ... A music but not uninteresting relatively more "cushy" and customary that what the group (and its undisputed leader) occur from Chupacabras (2005). Here, on Ghost Story, transitional album par excellence, we feel that something is up, that some strange bird trying to break its shell (this is especially evident on very Jethro-Tulliens kiteman and Wily Creilly or floydien everynight that seem to demand a body and cries less summary treatment) ... but never gets really except the excellent Beyond the Shadow of Doubt and its nearly 8-minute madness. The seeds of what will become Phideaux - one of the best prog groups of the new millennium! - Are there, distilled in an adult rock (in a good way) and well-done, sometimes hovering, sometimes sharp (but never too much, anyway ...). In short, if you are away from the bursting of a Doomsday Afternoon, Number Seven or Snowtorch (the first especially recommended) it is undeniably gifted craftsman work that Xavier and his companions (Group?) Offer us.
Ghost Story is not perfect, pretend otherwise would cloud the issue. It is to be taken, for those who appreciate Phideaux as a youth aeuvre, a necessary milestone on the road to excellence. And it is interesting to see where the group and its Grand Chef come and see the progress made since ... Who is significant as you will understand.
