Mia has to decide: Should they at her boyfriend Adam and her family stay 'or follow their great love for music and go with her cello to New York? What if Adam loses?
And then from one moment to the other, nothing is as it was: on icy road hurtles a truck in the car, in the Mia sits. With her family. She loses everything and is faced with the decision of the single life: Stay or go?
My opinion: "If I Stay" is a very soulful book. It describes in exchange for a happening right after the accident. Mia is indeed so severely injured that she is not conscious, but her "spirit" hovering next to her body and can observe everything: their relatives and friends who care about them and worry about them. You do not know what happened to her little brother, whether he survived or whether it is the sole survivor. Secondly, is told in flashbacks of her life before the accident as she has fallen in love with Adam, how they have come together and how good was your relationship with your family.
This short, only 200-page book has deeply moved me. It describes the feelings Mias very sensitive and intense. You feel her with, feel their despair and their worries and wonders until the end as she decides: whether it remains or whether it goes ...
My conclusion: "If I Stay" is the first book I have read by Gayle Forman, but it will not be the last for sure. The sequel to "Where she went" is in any case already noted!
