Lena (Paperback)

Customer Review

This novel at the beginning I was very surprised. For my part, rather accustomed to more rhythmic novels, I let myself quickly absorbed by this fascinating novel.

The first part of the novel is very poetic, it is mainly made in epistolary form and allows us not to go to discover the hushed protagonists. The style is fluid and descriptions of polar landscapes of Russia are wonderful.

The second part, in turn traces the history of space exploration in the USSR. This is done in a very intelligent way and allowed me to discover unknown character for me, such as Tsiolkovsky and Sergei Pavlovich.
Indeed, Vasya the main character evokes all the spatial history of Russia during its permissions to all tenants of the communal apartment he occupies with Lena.

The third part is a return to the polar landscapes, and recounts the return of Vasya with Lena.

A truly exciting novel because of the history of the USSR he evokes through Khrushchev and later by perestroika. But also due to the evocation of icy landscapes of Russia and the living conditions of the Russian people.
