Hello, I have the same model, red baron II with gray dial.
For the brightness of the hands, I made the following experience: 15 to 20 seconds under a strong light.
Result: a light in the darkness that lasts very long, still visible in the early morning.
I suggest you try.
I think it is the same for all models with fluorescent hands, including very expensive.
