I use this tripod for more than fifteen years, not only as a pure table tripod for self-timer, but also in churches, for tabletop shots at trade fairs, even simply pressed against a wall or column, it does reliably serving. The small ball head holds bombproof. At first I used the Manfrotto still with my analog Contax RTS III - in emergencies. This Contax was one of the heaviest small format SLRs that there was: The case weighed two kilos, plus 6 x AA batteries. Add to that a reasonably compact wide angle with about 400 grams, so they came up with about three kilos. That was a problem for either the stand still for the ball head. With the lightweight EOS cameras of course I need not think about stability issues.
The only drawback is the fixed predetermined, fairly low working height.
