In principle, it is impossible to an analog device, eg a VGA monitor to operate on a DVI-D output. This is technically absolutely impossible unless one uses a usually very expensive digital-analog converter (which this certainly is not adapter). Nevertheless, I ordered this product. As the theory, as well as the practice: The adapter is used meaningfully only as a paperweight. Technically the thing is useless. I wonder what an engineer has designed this adapter. That's about as if they had a tap with safety plug on the other side. That just does not make sense, no matter from which side you look at it. One can operate connecting a VGA monitor only at a DVI-I or DVI-A. DVI-D to VGA does not work!
