Accumulator
For a smartphone that has a (relatively small) 3.5 "screen and has a mature software now, I would expect more. The Classic unfortunately lasts me one day by what I would understand in a smartphone, which is a 5" Screen has since displays are nunmal the biggest energy guzzlers. And I've asked the brightness only at 50% and LTE, NFC and Bluetooth are off. To me that's just weak!
Performance
Here is another aspect which displeases me. The inner values correspond approximately to the BlackBerry Q10, which is however already older, yet the price is so high and in my humble opinion too high. Before I bought the Classic, I have read in forums that could be possible in spite of inappropriate hardware to run everything smoothly and that should not be so insist on performance. I had the two divided, but for me anyway, the keyboard with the larger screen (larger than in Q10) the reason to pick up my smartphone. Now after 3 months I have to say that the power is too low. In the menu, the Blackberry runs as smooth as silk and the most pre-installed and native apps run smoothly. But for example the music player that I use very often, play songs that I antippe only after some delay. In Android apps you can clearly see that the performance is out of date. I had for a few months, the BlackBerry Z30, and in which everything went smoothly. Too bad that BlackBerry has the Classic not given at least the same hardware.
Those were the negative points, but on my 4 * -Evaluation can see that something good comes.
Size
Through the keyboard, the Classic is about the size of a 5 "smartphone which is the upper limit for me. Bigger should not be a smartphone for me because I want to keep it comfortable to hold and will it fit into your pocket. The back is a tacky feel, so the Classic pleasant in the hand.
Screen
The LCD display is very bright, if you set the brightness to the maximum value, the colors are very nice and everything is clearly seen. When the sun shines, that's not a big problem at the bright screen. The size is a reason not to buy the Classic for people who want to watch videos or play games, definitely. There just is not thought.
Operating system
The BlackBerry OS 10 like it very much. It is very well constructed and easy to use. Once you've figure out how to perform the actions, it is not long until you get used to it. The stroke is of course the highlight. All emails WhatsApps-, BBM messages, calls and text messages in one place. I have an overview and can respond quickly to all messages. I just love to BlackBerry!
Keyboard + trackpad navigation keys +
For me, a physical keyboard when smartphone is very important. I tested virtual keyboards at BlackBerry, Samsung, Acer and Motorola, but nothing comes to a physical. I do not make so many mistakes and the AutoCorrect I no longer need. So that makes it much more fun to write. But what bothers me is that the umlauts something must be "cumbersome" inserted into the text. The corresponding key (a, o, u) It is necessary to press and hold and then displayed after a short time the umlaut on the display. Unfortunately, this inhibits the write speed. Otherwise I like the size of the keys and their feedback.
To return to its roots, BlackBerry has placed the trackpad and navigation buttons on the Classic. This makes it possible to use the phone with one hand. If I just only have a free hand, I think it's also very good. In addition, you do not emphasize the gestures on the screen, for example, to open the menu of an app, but it pushes the appropriate button on the navigation bar. Therefore, you must also migrate the Classic not in hand, in order to better get to the top of the screen. It also brings more convenience with itself. In addition, you can also answer or end calls classically over the keys. The trackpad is very useful when it comes, or similar text from the Internet, from an email to copy and paste, as you can so mark very precise. That's not so easy on a full touch smartphone.
If you do not want to use the navigation bar, you can also do without it, because the operating system is designed for touch operation, but I find that it is useful in many cases.
Conclusion:
The BlackBerry Classic has a great keyboard and a nice screen that is sufficient for the important things, such as communication, definitely. The operating system works beautifully, is very mature and is well complemented by the navigation buttons and the trackpad. Confounders are for me the battery and the power, the BlackBerry would have liked to raise.
Who wants to have a multimedia smartphone, should leave their hands off the Classic. Rather, it is meant for those who put much emphasis on quick and easy communication.
Update 04/25/15: A few weeks ago came with me the error, the others had the BB Q10: When typing letters are inserted twice in between, although 100% is not pressed the button 2x. Unfortunately Blackberry has since not learned from the mistakes. During the whole time I had sporadic crashes of the Classics, which I could not reproduce with certain situations. I had this problem already with the Z30, which I was allowed to return fortunately. Last also popped yet another error and that the headset is detected by the device once a second and then again not recognized, which made it unusable. Only on the PC it worked normally. But other headphones work on Classic.
Before the update, there were 4 stars, but with this many annoying problems it deserves only 2 stars. Unfortunately, I have experienced a problem already with BlackBerrys and 2 from the case with the double letters BB has apparently not learned. I am quite disappointed by BB as just a device that was meant to communicate, makes such difficulties and seemingly no old errors are eliminated. Even if I if I wanted to give BB a chance and there are many positive aspects, such as having the stroke, I will say goodbye to BB and looking for a new alternative.
