Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - [Nintendo Wii U] (Video Game)

Customer Review

NOTE: No confirmed Amazon purchase since I have acquired in MH3U Bundle for Wii U! Nevertheless, I will try to explain my review for the game alone.

So, after 196 hours of pure gameplay I now think it is appropriate to share my opinion about the game.

FYI: This is my first Monster Hunter. I play with the Wii U Pro MH3U controller, therefore my judgment refers in terms only control it.

Gameplay: You come as hunters newcomer to the village of Moga, which is ravaged by an earthquake. The residents suspect that it was caused by a big monster. Here is clear: We were hired to carry on this beast finished off!
But still we lack definitely experience. So get to work and be diligent!
It starts with us from any type of weapon, the weakest weapon available. Class! Thus provides directly the opportunity to find the right type of weapon for themselves and to practice a bit. The storyline for the next several hours is then largely logically from: hunting and gathering. In the village itself there is a quest switch, where one assumes the various missions. These are sorted by difficulty and require, depending on the mission hunt or catch monsters (In the game there is no distinction between killing and capture Say: Mission "Erjage Monster X" allows also to catch the monster, the mission applies trz fulfilled. kill. Mandatory is never asked!). Every now and then there are also simple gathering quests where you have to capture a specific Resscource.
From the captured materials then new armor and weapons can be built, the collection and hunting instinct is awakened! There is also the opportunity at any time to go to "free hunting" in the village of Middle Moga Forest. There are the only large-scale monster that has already hunted in a Quest. They switched it were free.

Graphics & Sound:
On the whole, there is not much to complain about the graphics. The different areas that you unlock gradually see, good and each have their own style. They also differ in Day & Night (direct day / night cycles, there is not.) Also very well done, I find the sound. The roar of monsters, the fauna around you or the menacing music the slow matches and sounds when a fight is imminent with a monster. Everything is super rübergebracht and raises mood! For graphics junkies, there are also again something to complain about. Textures (eg ground) act often times blurred or lacks any point of detail. Something does not bother me in the least and does the game in my opinion, not detract.

Weapons & armor:
The game offers an excellent selection of various armor and weapons that you unlock over time. These are divided into 12 different types of weapons: sword and shield, Great Sword, Dual Blade, Long Sword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, lance, gun lance Morphaxt (mixture of ax and sword), Light Crossbow, Heavy Crossbow, bow. Each weapon type has its own "special move" and basically behaves differently to the other types (ex .: Double blades provide agility and quickness in the attack, but cause harm verhältnissmäig little and do not provide protection while the Greatsword massive handing out damage and block opportunities but a much slower can be in the fight, which becomes especially noticeable in fast monsters.)
In addition, all weapons have a reinforcing element such as fire or ice, but I will come in the next point.
Just as weapons are armor element bound and act well and against other just not as good against certain elements. The combination of weapons and armor makes it!

Monster:
The most important in a hunting game are the monsters that you ultimately fought. Nothing was definitely wrong! The monsters look awesome and are considerably more detailed than other things in the game. In this case, each monster on his own behavior patterns. Just slap on and hope to win is not here. One has to look at the movements of the monster and consider when the best time to attack, otherwise you bite into faster Moga-grass than one would like.
Most monsters have attacks it, the damage Accept element such as burns. Other attacks, which freeze eg care, for which our stamina recovers more slowly. Of course there are many more like poisoning, paralysis and so on. Here, then, caution is advised. To cause as Monster Element damage, so they also have an element of weakness. Has a monster as fire as a weakness, it makes perfect sense to use a weapon that causes additional fire damage.

Control:
Personally, I am very satisfied with the control. I can not comment too much because such a thing as the control is a matter of taste at this point. I've heard a lot of opinions about it that your character is moving "heavy" and slow. To this end, I just say: realism! Moves ye about hyper-speed of a cheetah over? I certainly did not. Okay, here I am exaggerating, of course. The character is by no means so slowly that it is delivered a monster hopeless. On the contrary, I've gotten used to in the first 1-2 hours and it must tell like it very much.
Did you discover a big monster there is the possibility of a button to create a camera mark on this monster. If you hold the L button, the camera pans immediately direction Monster. Good solution! So the constant camera panning is a save with the right stick often.
The only shortcoming: The controller under or in the water is a little awkward, rarely it happens that you lose the orientation and which accounts for a fight in favor of the monster.

Multiplayer:
That is also the developers succeeded well. Whether online with other home or with friends (1 Wii U + max. 3 3DS), it does make equal more fun to several to go hunting. Go online, select Lobby and select space. Tell a whole the rooms not to the other players, except for the mission objective or level of players, makes you look just on their own and waiting for the other players to join one.
Personally, I only play locally with my girlfriend (I Wii U, 3DS it). That's why I can not comment too much on the online mode. But at the 3-4 times I was then times online, there were no problems.

Conclusion:

MH3U is truly a jewel of the Wii U games. At the very beginning it has grabbed me and not let go so far again. Among the previous 196 hours will be added again certainly 196. I still have not discovered everything long, not even all the monsters!
If your looting a fan of it since, and it matters to build a new, slaying monsters and beat up neatly in a multiplayer monster muzzle with 3 colleagues, then you are right here!
Until Mario Kart, Smash Broth. and Co this game is to come out definitely my favorite!
