The first telephoto lens with an aperture of 2.8, which is the dream of every amateur photographers.
With this lens, it can not be too demanding for the true!
First, the processing of the lens:
Large, heavy, plastic. These are the things that first come to my mind, but none of them is meant negatively.
Such a lens is difficult by nature, simply because a lot of glass is installed. The Tamron lies very good in the hand, with a professional or semi-professional Body (Nikon D7000 / D7100 / D300) definitely a treat to balance and weight, because it is lighter than any other 70-200er on the market.
Even the award Plastic Phantastic is true here: actually everything but the bayonet is made of plastic. Stable and halfway-quality plastic. Unbeatable for the price range!

The lens is quite in fashion with Tamron lens hood, two lens caps, a storage quiver and a tripod adapter from metal! Someone has thought along time!
What can this lens good?
It can deliver a damn sharp images initially, even on a crop sensor.
Which also equals the shock comes in the face: it may, but need not. On my old D3100 14MP with some extremely sharp pictures were taken, I with my D7100 24MP could not reproduce until now.
Vignette? What is that? Says I believe everything. On Crop Sensor wonderful.
Pincushion distortion can be seen from 100mm. But drops to never, unless you shoot more often brick walls from the front.
The minimum focusing distance of this lens is 95cm according to the manufacturer. I have not measured it, but the true dimension. It focused in fact very close. Thus portraits are still creamy in the background and far format filling than comparable lenses.
Of course, the name is somewhat misleading Macro. A true macro lens is not this, but do you get a larger image scale down, so so many other equipment from Nikon / Canon / Sigma.
While it is not officially sealed weather or dust proof, thanks to the outwardly immobile overall structure but that should not immediately become a problem. Neither the front element, nor the rear element move. This is thanks to the internal focusing. The rear element in the bayonet is even bonded / sealed. A movement of air and dust in lens sales is at least not easily.
Flaring I have so far can not determine with big difference in luminance (Bright lights at night), however, shows a hint of ghosting.
What can this lens is not as good?
Be fast. That can not actually so. The focus is slowly and audibly. However, the latter only disturbs the wedding or wildlife photographer. The slow focus is there, unfortunately, not for serious sports applications. Yes, it is possible, but not beautiful.
Sits the focus, however, only once, are in Continous focus but also fast jumps possible (not to my surprise, almost noiselessly).
The focus must therefore not he is long pumping faster and quieter than expected.
The ring-to-front and slide switch is used to at first, but perfectly fine. Switching from AF to MF's easy way around sometimes. Unfortunately, the switch based on the principle of interlocking sprockets. Therefore, the switching operation from AF to MF is sometimes hakelig when the teeth of the mechanism does not engage immediately with each other. Tip: Turn off the autofocus on the camera or using AF Lock.
As already mentioned earlier, it is not always 100% sharp. These unfavorable conditions come fringing and longitudinal aberrations. Everything but not wild, as long as you do not photographed lying rulers or pages constantly at maximum aperture.
Of course, many will say now I'll buy me a 2.8er so I can use it at f 2.8! And you can too. Some of the sharpest pictures were taken at an aperture of 2.8 or 4. And even a Nikon 70-200 VRII is not as sharp as at f 4 or 8 at 2.8.
Anyone who complains about the performance of this lens at this price has not understood the principle You get what you pay for.
Conclusion:
The sharpness is great in good conditions, great visual problems are not recognizable.
The focus speed is the biggest drawback of this lens, but must not complain because: The focus works! For the price it is not appropriate, so to forgive four star!
Weight and handling are pleasant and reasonable.
The apparent weather resistance gives a good feeling with regard to the processing point.
The decor is as always far better than Nikon / Canon.
Definitive buy recommendation!
Note: This Objektv is suitable for full format and should be sharper at 35mm sensor and show less aberrations. I have experience with it, however, do not!
