I bought my ASUS VH198D as an additional display for my notebook Lenovo ThinkPad T61 widescreen. I had seen some positive reviews here on Amazon and have decided, despite not (yet) existing test results by relevant computer magazines for purchasing this LED model. Below my judgment:
++ Design - piano black, glossy, black, very elegant but intensive cleaning
++ Processing appears very valuable
++ Stable, but space-saving stand on which the monitor does not wobble whenever the keyboard
+ Very space-saving due to flat construction
+ Very quiet
+ Easy-to-reach cable connectors
- Insufficient sharpness, despite the set, by the manufacturer recommended (native) resolution of 1,440 x 900
- Colors are unnatural and too bright even after several manual adjustments
- Black lettering appears even after conducted modes-change and you. Adjustments with purple and green shades that turn even individual letters consequences very purple and green
- Keys for manual settings / adjustments are to less bright locations hardly recognizable / readable
- Overall, the picture for office applications and permanent, daily use too glaring => is necessarily turn down
- Menu is quite cumbersome
- Manual is a joke in the form of a folding wallpaper in Arial "2"
I (falsified color reproduction and sharpness mangelner) decided due to insufficient image quality to send back the unit and yet to create a conventional LCD monitor of the same size.
Maybe I'm not far enough dived into the depths of the manual setting details or my expectations of a modern LED monitor this format were just too high. I have hereby gained the feeling that either the producers are not yet progressed far enough in the LED monitor development or to a higher surcharge is required for a high-quality LED monitor. Therefore, I advise rather to present a conventional LCD monitor.
I hope I could help with research?!?
