For me one of the most important points is the picture quality I then usually first check in artificial light, since there are no major problems in daylight normally. And here I have to say is the 1000 HS an absolute disaster. A point which is appearing in one of the comments on the above review, only in passing that the camera in artificial light almost always most highly situated on 400 even at 800 ISO and therefore provides vermatschte photos. Unfortunately, you can not limit the Auto ISO upwards, but can only be set to automatic or permanently set. I made comparison pictures with my fairly old Panasonic DMC-FX150 which makes better pictures at ISO 100 to 125 in the same lighting conditions of the same motives by orders of magnitude.
I find the Canon IXUS 1000 HS camera more, the really nice extra features that you can also really need good, but unfortunately in your "core competence", the photograph for non-professionals like me, from my perspective, at least in artificial light , is completely useless. And with "useless" I mean compared to other compact cameras or the DMC-FX150. Very unfortunate.
Again, I would point out that this is my personal opinion and subjective and based on my specific impressions and experiences with the camera. I can not rule out, of course, that I have some setting or otherwise overlooked something. However, I beg definitely about my subjective opinion, to accept as such.
