I had long can not decide between RX10 and FZ1000, had both at home (and have ultimately returned FZ1000)
The FZ1000 is the picture quality - inferior noise of the RX10, which is again (very surprisingly) is approximately the same as the Sony Alpha A58 (I also)
I have the FZ1000 in the 100% view (JPEG) from ISO 3200 to ISO compared 12800 with the RX10 and the A58, and the FZ1000 is in some situations almost as good as the RX10, in some but to one and a half stops worse ( ie more noise at the same amount or less detail).
Between A58 and RX10 is hardly or at least not a big difference to see. And that's saying something, because the Alpha 58 a year ago in some magazines winner in image quality in middle-SLR - was cameras. In the image quality, it has clearly struck as the Sony A77.
The RX10 - signal processing can especially with large areas minimize greatly the noise, the FZ1000 rushes here as I said at least one stop more in structures rather less difference should be noted here that in my opinion, both are almost equal..

I know practically all the tests (of dpreview, Camera Labs - is very interesting Ralfs- Photo Bude etc ...) in the network, have researched this extensively. All tests show some different resultative, but all is more or less common that the JPEG processing the Panasonic has been unsuccessful, despite the same chip the RX10 - for whatever reason.
This also depends on the situation, as I said, there are also images, where the Panasonic is equivalent according to my tests.
There is for example a test of DXO-Mark, where the imaging chip and therefore the image quality of the RX10 were rated better than the FZ1000.
In Raw both cameras are relatively identical.
That was the first reason why I returned the FZ1000 and have decided on the RX10.
Unfortunately, Panasonic not underexposed without flash often by as much as half an f-stop, what the noise intensified, the Sony.
With flash photos it shows a slight red tint and turns inexplicably in Flash Mode at wide angle always min. To ISO 800,
at the Sony white balance fits here, ISO 200 is used here in the wide-angle.
The second reason why the Sony is better for me, is this really loud noise of the Image Stabilizer FZ1000, it is now not necessarily the KO criterion for me, but it really is very disturbing (even my wife criticizing). Even with my Rode Video Microphone Mic input you can hear it quite clearly.
When RX10 the noise is barely perceptible. When RX10 I hear it when I'm with the ear near the viewfinder, with the Panasonic at the distance of half a meter (in a silent environment).
Of course, in a noisy environment that does not matter, but when it comes to indoor shots, which speaks or sometimes maybe not, the stability-sound is way too loud.
I even sold my external Rode because of the good performance of the Sony microphone.
In conjunction with the fainter objective therefore is the FZ1000 (in my subjective opinion) the inferior camera.
Of course there are again points where the FZ1000 performs better (the faster autofocus - is now critical not for me, I had in return even an almost faster autofocus expected because sometimes in both the auto focus almost the same rate) or some other points (400 mm, better Wi-Fi - app etc ..)
What I like good, for example, the possibility of photo-shooting (with a number of settings) while recording video, which Sony has not.
In flash mode it starts with 1/60, the 1/30, which greatly disturbs me Sony.
The setting of Panasonic, for example, processing in Rawmodus are also fascinating for me.
The point that the Sony in video mode has no visible focal point, the Panasonic but already, for me is a considerably less significant than expected.
In return, I do not back out auto ISO in video mode, the Sony, which has not FZ1000, rather indifferent.
For me, the FZ1000 is the camera with the best features that has RX10 for me the better photo quality and the better tone in videos - and that's what matters to me personally -
where you have to say it was a very difficult decision - (much superior combinations and basically the same price for their overall functions Lens - - DSLR.) both cameras are as I said, the currently best Bridge cameras
FYI - I take pictures with SLR cameras for over 30 years.
Both cameras are currently true showpieces, but both unfortunately their quirks.
A camera with the advantages of both cameras would be the ideal combination for me.
Currently the RX10 is for me the best choice that can change in a year, if I might not make many interior pictures (and my daughter has grown out of the infancy).
In general, I would be happy about a successor to the Sony with an improved auto focus, to shoot plus the option during video recording photos.
I rate the Sony with 5 stars, as the few shortcomings for me bleating on extremely high levels are. I would also give the FZ1000 5 Stars.
In principle, one can say for Lowlight photos the Sony is the better choice if someone photographed rather out in the wild, is probably the FZ1000 the better choice. For video, I think the RX10 as the better choice, the 4K mode I'm not received, because for me the one hand, the storage space required is much too high, in the FZ1000 no Wide is available here and the difference of 4K at "normal "seating distance to Full HD is imperceptible.
