Roccat Ryo MK Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Per-Key Illumination (MX Key Switch brown) (Accessories)

Customer Review

I took the last 5 years a Logitech G15 Refresh Keyboard. After this has gradually given up the ghost needed a new keyboard. In the closer decision fell for me then the Logitech G710 +, the Razer BlackWidow 2013 and the ROCCAT Ryo MK Pro. The Razer BlackWidow fell out but quickly, because there is this only with Blue Cherry switches. Blue Cherry switches have a tactile feedback (resistance when pressed) and an acoustic feedback (click). On YouTube you can each Cherry switches and their / View before disadvantages very well, there also called on almost all keyboards "Typing" video, where you can the soundscape of various mechanical keyboards hear well.

At first I + chose the Logitech G710, as these are the same switch, a 2-zone lighting (I find perfectly adequate) and generally has a good impression as well as the significantly better price / performance ratio. I have to G710 + own review written, who wants to know more. Written very briefly, I felt the G710 + almost perfect. The keyboard was low, could be super tap (Cherry Brown flat) was well made and very visually appealing. The white backlight of the G710 + I feel (even now that I have the Ryos MK Pro) still with the best. No color looks so harmonious and readable as it does know. The G710 + was almost perfect, were it not for the shortcoming of rickety palmrest. These will range puts on thin pins, rattles and shakes but pretty and was my model did not fully flush. For people who do not want a hand rest is the G710 + an absolute recommendation especially for the price, but who value on a stable and fixed palmrest I advise rather to ROCCAT Ryo's or other manufacturers. Therefore, I sent back the G710 +.

Then my secret favorite, the ROCCAT Ryo MK Pro purchase. For a keyboard that Ryo is of course very expensive, but for me personally, the purchase is totally worth it!
A very big plus gets Ryo alone because the palm rest is an integral part of the keyboard. The keyboard will not budge on the desk, it rattles and nothing wobbles, purely from the processing makes Ryo defenitiv a very good quality impression. The palmrest of Ryo is very finely roughened surface by somehow feels soft if well it is actually just hard plastic. Overall, Ryo is truly outstanding verabreitet and also looks visually great, even if of course you have to note that Ryo is also quite a "plastic bomber". Plastic or not, the keyboard makes a good impression and I really like them visually.

I got my Ryo with brown Cherry switches bought this like the most because I find very handy to me personally the "tactile" feedback when writing. Also, I find that the tactile feedback during gaming absolutely does not bother. The Cherry Brown switches you can feel a slight resistance when you press the button until the contact point. This resistance is so fine that it practically does not really stand while gambling. Also you can feel this just only when you press the button. Holding down eg W, so you can tell anything about it. Therefore I find the Cherry Brown switches for both gamers and much Tipper ideal. The keys themselves feel valuable and stable, the press is very great thanks to Cherry. Generally I find something mechanical keys griffer as Rubber Dome buttons.

What the ROCCAT Ryo MK Pro is apart from all keypads their versatile configuration and LED lighting. The ROCCAT has 2 ARM processors, which 1er exclusively controls the lighting. Each key is individually controlled and you can regulate the illumination of each key in the driver. Also, the different effects and keyboard illumination, here I recommend to you on YouTube test the keyboard to see time you get a perfect overview what the keyboard can lighting technology. I personally find the light effects even as totally useless. The lighting effects are just as typical gadgets which you briefly look when the keyboard is new and is looking forward to it, but feels more annoying after a few hours. I have the FADE effect deactivated again, and selected as the keyboard screen saver "Falla Sleep", in other words after 30 minutes (you can choose freely), it turns the keyboard off the lighting. Although the effects are rather insignificant, so I find it extremely convenient iff each key is individually lit, which is, in the next section more precisely at second assignments of great advantage. Generally, you can adjust the lighting very extensive, you can create multiple profiles, including can be a standard Windows profile zuweißen and some gaming profiles which can be vernküpfen with games, so the keyboard when you start a particular game will automatically change the profile. Naturally, you can adjust gimmicks like WASD lighting, or anyone who wishes can also be applied only MMOs MMO-relevant buttons light up, and the rest not. But for me personally the latter is irrelevant. The brightness of the lighting can be divided into 6 stages and rules can be chosen separately for each profile. However, one can not illuminate buttons different light, all buttons always have the same brightness value.

Much more interesting, I think that is the configuration option of the keyboard! The keyboard has 5x ordinary macro keys on the left side and 3x buttons below the space bar, which are labeled "T". The T-keys I find very convenient as they are very easy to reach via thumb without the hand to move large. Furthermore, you can prove almost any key on the keyboard for a second function. It is called at ROCCAT "Easy Shift". If you hold down the Tab key, you can virtually select the second function of that key. Is basically almost the same as the "function key" with many keyboards, with the difference that when Ryo nearly every button is just freely programmable. The possibilities are very far-reaching. There are even a couple of ROCCAT commands, otherwise you can of course record your own macros and save it or normal program shortcuts. If you hold the TAB key then pressed, only light up the keys on which macros or second assignments are stored. I've saved some programs frequently used as a second occupation, I press TAB then lights as S (= Steam shortcut) and many other characters. If an overall pretty handy feature, as the left hand normally rests always white (right hand controls the mouse with me), you can storing important functions and / or frequently used programs especially around the WASD Blcok around. I find very comfortable and practical.
The fact that the TAB key is now used for the Easy-Shift function, of course, eliminates the actual function of the Tab key. The TAB key feature is by default set to the T1 key, but you can also Roccat driver TAB just as normal as TAB run button. The Easy Shift function can in fact set the T-key or M-keys for example to other keys, personally I feel the TAB key but best reached.

The ROCCAT driver you have to download on the ROCCAT website, is loaded very quickly with 22 MB (currently version 1.32). After that first updates the keyboard and then kanns already go. In general, the ROCCAT driver initially looks confusing, especially because many keyboard effects / functions confuse a beginning and are in English. I have about 1h first clicked me through the driver, played around, try lighting effects and generally seen what you can do everything in the ROCCAT software so. In general, the keyboard can be configured really very extensive and versatile. And the ROCCAT software is if you have the various functions and settings by first looking, actually very easy to use. It is initially just confusing, but after a short mans has well understood and can easily configure the keyboard. Although much still remains ultimately a gimmick and you much in the long term or only very rarely needed, so it's still interesting to know what is possible.
A feature which I find quite nice is that the keyboard stores the number of keystrokes. In the ROCCAT software in the tab "Statistics" you can then see how many keystrokes, the keyboard had a total and how often the WASD keys (each key is separately counted) were operated. Of the total number you can also daily and the hourly average display.

A point to certainly ask a lot of people before buying: Is it worth the extra cost of an ordinary keyboard (Rubber Dome) on the expensive mechanical keyboards?
I personally have had the experience that you can not fast with a mechanical keyboard writes than with a conventional keyboard. The writing on the mechanical keyboard simply feels just better to have a thanks to the brown Cherry switches just a better feeling when typing due to the tactile feedback of the keys. Also you get used to it very quickly, the buttons only have to tap and not quite push through. But with a good Rubber Dome Keyboard you can just tap quickly and easily, especially Rubber Dome Keyboard is not Rubber Dome Keyboard. There are good and bad keyboards. Personally, I just found Rubber Dome keyboards with flat keys for fast typing very comfortable. The advantage of mechanical is in my opinion the one hand in the durability, mechanical keys provide significantly more stops and does not wear out as quickly as Rubber Dome keyboards. Furthermore, the mechanical keys of significantly higher quality, which you just can feel good when typing. The keys feel easy grip, this feeling that it is the MX Brown can help with their tactile feedback additionally a Rubber Dome Keyboard not convey so. Whether it's worth the one (juicy) charge must each decide for me personally it is worth.

Overall, the ROCCAT Ryo MK Pro I really like! The keyboard has met my expectations, looks nice, has a good finish and a "Tiger" to have a keyboard's a great feeling. Price-conscious people should but better keep your hands off the MK Pro. You have to just be aware that part of the price mainly due to the LED lighting and the gadgetry is concluded. Mechanical keyboards with Brown Cherrys there already for 80, with LED backlight you can then quickly depending on the quality of lighting einrechnen 120-130. The ROCCAT justify their additional price up by many art gadgetry. Whether one now has them a benefit or added value is sometimes an open question. But it is ultimately for me personally a really great keyboard like a that fits well on the desk and that is fun. Therefore, for me was the rather high investment it defentiv value, so a mechanical keyboard was supposed to re-some years easily do their job. For me, the purchase was worth defenitiv and I'm extremely happy with it.
