Only has the iPad but it is not keyboard. Tap times two sets on the screen is good, but for longer texts, it is inappropriate. For this I have bought myself the Belkin Folio.
It is good that even the iPad3 fit into the envelope. All buttons and the camera are accessible. However, the insertion of the charging plug on general charging and communication port is somewhat tricky when the iPad is in the case. One can take out at a reasonable cost, but if the tab that holds it, take out really thousand times by holding (if one takes out there every day, in 3 years total operating time) I would like to question. All other parts that open and snaps shut you, however, seem more durable and robust.
Is very good that the keyboard flips out behind the iPad. So you will not run the risk of scratching the screen or to spot, as is the case with many laptops. While this makes the keyboard slightly Rausholen fummeliger because you just operates in the mode with keyboard, iPad the other way around as without. But it is also much safer.
What I miss the magnetic switch that is known by Apple's own iPad cover art is: Cover to iPad; Cover from iPad back on immediately. That would be a really nice addition for the Protection Folio! Equally I miss a practical standby function for the keyboard when folded away. The manual on / off switch of the keyboard seems somehow out of place. After switching it also does not seem immediately to couple with the iPad, but only after pressing any key. However, the described by other people Bluetooth coupling problems I had not.
If you forget to turn off the keyboard before folding, you almost certainly pressing any key, which can then trigger unwanted functions. At least that goes off rather quickly by hand, if you only on the keyboard pushes the Lock button for the iPad (which switches the dark), and then the keyboard to the switch also turns off. Nevertheless: From operating concept that is not quite as outstanding as Apple's Smart Cover (see above).
The keyboard itself is QWERTY with function keys on the Apple layout. Here I am now used to the PC layout, so'll have to get used. The key grid is slightly smaller than standard PC keyboards, more netbook-like, but it's still easy to operate.
Another disadvantage is the relatively high weight of shell and keyboard of some 500 grams - 2/3 of what the iPad3 weighs! In total envelope, iPad and keyboard are therefore quite difficult. Here makes probably this, the shell should be a really good protection for the iPad, even if it gets dropped times or a few raindrops abbekommt. During transfers from the bus to the train have to do it not necessarily as a laptop computer in your pocket, only to then dig out again two minutes later. Therefore, the portfolio meets the requirements!
For the high weight and the non-optimal operating concept there of me a star deduction.
