The docking station provides a safe, stable (hard) and stable home for the note. Once you set the unit to the mini-USB connector to the dock surface switches - looks good (but is also suppressible).
Sound can be output via the smartphone (recess in the docking station) or from an external device (audio output).
About the USB connection on the back of the device can only be charged, but it can (unfortunately!) No data is transmitted (has been also so given).
Especially important for me is the ability to use the music with the Samsung Flip Cover EFC 1E1F for Samsung Galaxy Note navy. Always a bit cautious at first fit the device into the dock and then lead down until it clicks. When removing easily push forward and pull up to remove.
Initially still gaaaaaanz careful now it is automatic and fast.

And .. if you tilt the dock to the right, you can treat yourself to a small (Youtube) film in between also on the office table :-)
