As has been written here already enough to the part, maybe another variant, to operate it: In my PC this CPU cooler does its job quietly, because I run it without the fan. How: I have tinkered starting from PSU "baffles" cardboard up to the aluminum fins of the radiator so that the network fan draws its air through the CPU cooler. At first I was concerned that the power supply (a very faint BeQuiet, 550W with temperature-controlled fan) then becomes too hot, or the motherboard is not cooled sufficiently, neither of which is not the case. And for 2 years on a Q8400 at most about 40 ° C, but no more than 65 ° C operating temperature, which is quite critical for the processor in the long term. However, I'm just a "normal user", the CPU is rarely fully utilized over a longer period.
Conclusion: Since I also reaches a passively cooled graphics card, my whole PC is almost silent.
Well indeed something else to the radiator itself: I have now already 2 times obstructed the first doing for 2 years his ministry. Installation is - as already described - sometimes hakelig, but not a real problem. Also it does not fit on all boards, the second I had to cut something the lower fins on one side. Therefore, it is also only 4 stars.
