Just so there is no irritation, as this program is not yet erhätlich Amazon: Registered users have already a few weeks ago to upgrade to the latest version 8 for an attractive price. That reminds me the standard version is sufficient because of my cameras, I am referring only to this, where the elite is likely to differ only in price and the unterstüzten (professional) cameras.

DxO Optics Pro has never been a fast program. That was always one of Hauptkritkpunkte. The competitors of course not perform error correction for Distortions, vignetting and chromatic aberration to be measured camera / lens combinations (until end of 2012, 20,000 bodywear / lens combinations exist as been measured data!). This is - at least to my knowledge - so far a unique selling point, but that has it all. In addition, since this version has 8 processing speed at least considerably increased (compared to 7.5.x version).

Schick is that supports the new version of the Retina displays of Apple computers. This looks already in the Preview "very sharp" from (when such displays are actually for PCs ?!)! Incidentally Optics Pro must always be installed on two computers (though not with simultaneous use).

Regarding the image quality have been no really clearly visible changes to version 7.xx and remains at an extremely high level. Only can be with Lightroom a little more out of the Dynamic of RAWs - so at least my subjective impression. And perhaps also the noise reduction intervenes sometimes a little strong.

The new smart Lighning function is easy to use and similar to Lightroom, and other RAW processors. The combination with the intelligent auto exposure makes it easy to get all the details and quality of the RAW files.

DxO Optics Pro 8 provides some number of other new features / improvements. One is the built-in print function. It is handy, but it is difficult to imagine that this is used by many users because Optics Pro is anything but a photo management program.

Really a lot, "bring out" even the finest details, which you would not previously gehaten possible - With Lens Softness can be - seemingly accesses DxO here aud the data of the measured lenses back.

The user interface has been updated with new, modernized symbols and everything looks a little tidier, more modern.

Otherwise, there are a number of other (detail) improvements (new histogram, improved resampling and many more).

After a few weeks of use (including in connection with the DxO FilmPack 3 Expert Edition) there has been no cause for criticism (which the stability concerns (version 8.0.1)). In this respect, the program makes a sophisticated impression.

All these changes make it even easier to use DxO and my first choice for the conversion of my RAW files (which goes well with JPGs). I hope DXO is a little polish on the image dynamics and the noise reduction. It's almost embarrassing to such high Nivea whining ... (and one must always have something to complain about!)

Compared to Adobe's Lightroom wins Lightroom with features, with its excellent search, filter and tagging infrastructure, and powerful editing tools. However Optics Pro is leaner approach a virtue and its superior lens profile database often yields better results. From here everyone must decide for themselves ...
