Had the equipment specified 48 hours a day - and gave it back because of a defect. Whether this is an isolated phenomenon or a series problem, and I do not like to estimate. I suspect a technical fault in the amplifier section, not a problem of software.
Positives:
- Functions: FM, DAB +, Internet radio, media player USB / network ... Everything was very smooth, as you would imagine it.
- Operation: the buttons on the device are rather moderate - but by remote control and the ability to really control everything via an app from your smartphone via WLAN is that more than compensated. Comfortable.
- Fast switching between the operating modes
- Removable antenna supplied rod antenna can be removed and replaced by another / better / smaller.
Neutral:
o Design is ok, not very 'wertig', but not cheap - better than its predecessor DIR 3000
o Display easy to read, but a little small
Negatives:
- Sound (actually the alpha and omega of a radio!). While there is an equalizer with presets and a separate preset for bass and treble - as well as the good old 'Loudness' function. But that is not enough - the device sounds dull, it is entirely heights are clearly present. But it simply lack clean mids and the bass is either overloaded or absent. For a kitchen radio ok, but no HiFi and borderline for this price range.
- The loss after only 2 days. Sound only very softly and occasionally loud humming noise - at * all * modes (even when playing MP3) - I am therefore of a defect from (evtl.- amplifier). Amazingly, even the DAB + reception eased dramatically.
In sum I would have arranged with the moderate tone (ok for the intended purpose), because operation and overall function package are exactly what I was looking for ... but the failure has then decided it.
If I can not find anything better in the next 3 months, I give the model might again take a chance and hope that it was a Monday device ...
