To start my own business I was looking for a "robust" laptop, which should fulfill the following main points:
1) Very low weight in order to work away from the office can.
2) Good performance for common office programs, many applications at the same average and occasionally watching videos (I wanted to play with the PC no memory intensive games!)
3) Good to use keypad
4) User-friendly extras such as keypad lighting
5) price under 1000 euros (I ultimately paid 999.00)
In all points has convinced me the Toshiba A177-Z30. I have not even decided after many, many hours of comparing for a Acer or Samsung (like many others), but for a Toshiba, as my previous laptop that mark me similar reliably without major crashes, program errors had accompanied for years by study and practice. He must now in well-earned retirement and is only used for private purposes. Given the apparent superiority of Acer in the field of everyday and business notebooks is Toshiba as a brand, of course, often, but should not be underestimated anyway.
I was completely taken with it, with as little weight can survive a notebook of this class. The screen size is also perfectly OK, even though I had only doubted whether 13.3 inches for the daily work on the PC is sufficient. But if I with my netbook (11 inches) and my old, heavy Toshiba compare the size (15.6 inches), the 13.3 inches are just the thing. I was also willing to make any concessions regarding the screen size for the benefit of the weight because my old Toshiba laptop for reciprocating hertragen was very arduous. The 1.2 kilo of Z30-A177 are as a true recovery for people who work sometimes out of the office or from home, yet want to have all important documents wherever you go.
The performance of the Toshiba I can also vote with 5 stars. Everything goes quickly out of hand and the impressive speed. With regard to the criticized by some users fan volume in this model I can only say this: I have the fans been rarely seen. Only once, at the beginning (when you install MS Office), he was clearly audible, and then also a bit annoying because he apparently did not want to stop. Might as well have been because I put a pillow under your laptop as a part of the fan is mounted on the underside. I was disappointed and thought briefly from returning to the PC, when at every step of the fans would turn up so, as you would then feel the constant background noise as extremely disturbing. After this an "incident" I have the fan in the following days and weeks but not once heard, although I have continued to work with the laptop as well as before and have also charged him RAM technically similar. So it remains for me at 5 stars.
The keyboard is, compared to other models I've tested, excellent. The pressure point is such that it also knows when one has the key down and not poking around in an extremely flat keyboard. The writing is very pleasant, because you do not need too much but not too little force to strike the keys.
I found important as intensive keyboard users also that the "Pos1" and keys are not hidden "end" among the Fn-points (as with some Acer models) because I quite often need this in writing.
Very nice, I think the keyboard illumination. Unlike some reviews I see there are no shortcomings - the lighting is for the service in full darkness perfectly adequate (even regularly tested). The hotkeys are not illuminated, but that's perfectly fine, as this would probably be technically very difficult to implement in this price range.
My laptop was equipped with Windows 8 and due to the many negative comments about the program, I was ready for anything. Ultimately, however, I was then very pleasantly surprised. I first disabled or uninstalled, because I need my computer only for work and not for the weather report or to extensively communicate with friends at all levels of social networking all unnecessary apps. Windows 7 is certainly more pleasant for those who are accustomed to, but compared to Windows Vista, I was still using on my old Toshiba, Windows 8 is certainly a better alternative. Conclusion: One can (and should) be used to everything! Installing MS Office 2010 also worked smoothly and without any particular problems or error messages. I am happy!
All in all I am pleased with the decision taken by my choice, because I can really nothing really negative about the Toshiba A177-Z30 report and am confident that it will accompany me on my long independence.
