Who knows nothing and can, sets the "Easy Automatic" on the dial, and then he can do no wrong.
Who wants to use a greater potential without himself something to do this, select the Auto mode (Smart Automatic). Here the camera decides on appropriate scene mode and comes in many situations to good results.
The actual strengths they can play if you use their manual control. And it really has a lot of possibilities! So many that they are not all intuitively find trying out, you have to be incorporated and to really read the digital manual accompanying.
I mention only a few times the things that are important to me when the camera and I have been looking in vain for many small compact:
- Full manual working ability, time, aperture and program automatic
- Instant access to exposure compensation
- Fixing the exposure time without focusing (in Program mode)
- Retaining the focus without determination of exposure values (in Program mode)
- Show a grid
- Change the flash intensity
- Change of contrast, sharpening and color saturation
- Immediate start of the video recording
- Waiving showpiece pixel count in favor of better Bilqualität
These are just a few examples of what the SX230 HS offers.
I would like to highlight yet (28-392 mm eq.) The large zoom range
The image quality is surprisingly good in most cases.
One reason for occasional image weaknesses is that the camera's automatic safe up to 1600 ISO takes to keep the exposure time in the larger telephoto short enough. Those who do not want to, unfortunately, can not narrow down the Auto ISO, but only select a fixed ISO number. Even extreme telephoto images may be crisp and sharp with low ISO numbers. (A post-contrast with an image editing program sometimes lured out yet amazing reserves from the image.)
Compared with the devices of the same class this Canon has much to offer.
Supplement 26 August 2011:
For pop-up flash and its positioning:
The flash cover is attached to the left top of the housing. In the closed flap flash normally rests the forefinger of his left hand. When you turn it will open automatically, but if the finger does not give in, they will be closed.
This is not a design flaw, but intention.
When the flash is lowered, the camera will not flash. If it is flashing, you must fold out the flash manually. So you always know where you stand, and has full control.
If necessary because of the light conditions, one is reminded on the display from opening the door.
This is an ingenious feature that saves a nuisance tripping of the flash with security.
