Songs of Mass Destruction (CD + Enhanced CD) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Annie Lennox's fourth solo album now carries the provocative name "Songs of Mass Destruction" and the title says it all.
"Bare", the last album, which came onto the market in 2003 was marked by sadness and melancholy.
This here album is full of power, rebellion and strength.
The opener "Dark Road", the (unfortunately in Germany only as a download single) is also at the same time the first single, is a tale of emotions and at the same time an interesting story. 10/10.

"Love is blind" is so wonderfully powerful and alive and has an unmistakably great melody. 10/10

The third track on the album "Smithereens" is typical Lennox-like: quiet, so that their unique voice very well come into its own and a treat for the ears. Beautifully! At the end of the song explodes the mood and Annie leaves everything out of himself. 10/10

"Ghost in My Machine" is simple and simply "awesome". That's the best word for song # 4. Geil. Geil. Geil. Great chorus and pure good humor. :-) 15/10 points.

The next song "Womankind" begins quietly but expertly. Great Rhtymus and super voice. Funnily chorus and unmistakable class. 10/10

The following song "Through the class Darkley" is a dreamy ballad that ends in a spectacular finale, followed by the equally quiet song "Lost". Both are a tribute to the love and life, the typical Annie Lennox topics.
"Coloured Bedspread" begins with a similar melody as the Euryhtmics Firecracker "Sweet dreams." This song belongs to "Songs of Mass Destruction" my absolute favorites.
"Sing", which with Madonna (sings the 2nd verse) Annie Lennox has received and superstars such as Anastacia, P! NK or Joss Stone, is a class of its own. Super melody and great arranged.

The final songs "Big Sky" and "Fingernail Moon" are again Annie-like: nice and quiet and great singing.
What the songs have in common, is the strength that they radiate. For every situation a song, for sadness a mood enhancer in CD form.

Annie Lennox is a gifted singer and a wonderful strong woman. Their music is meaningful and tells a story and is not some drivel like many singers / vocalists today.

I love this album.
