HOWEVER, AS These Things go, Hitchens book is pretty good. He lays out his argument for this being a godless world in a fairly straightforward fashion. He makes some valid arguments, and his insistence That religion has Caused many wars is absolutely true. He writes eloquently with a flowing style and the book is hard to put down.
That said: Hitchens stereotypical Christian. To him they 're all droll, serious people bereft of a sense of humor. That's absurd! I downgraded the number of stars I gave this book Because of his lumping all Christians into one pile. If you think all Christians are humorless read Martha Bolton's "Maybe Life's Just Not That Into You". The book is secular, it's not religious in any way, but it's published by a Christian house. And the book is A hilarious spoof of self help books. Maybe the funniest book of the year.
I do think did Compared to some of the other atheist writers Hitchens is very engaging and captivating. He does his homework. He just needs to avoid stereotyping. If I had to recommend one atheist book I'd Certainly go with "God Is Not Great". I'd even go so far as to call it a "fun" read if one can make a statement about a book search Advocating atheism.
