What is now the western United States, is the strictly military Republic in this trilogy. The country is constantly at war with the neighboring "colonies". The 15-year-old June grew up in the affluent suburbs, you stand before a career in the highest military ranks. Day, however, dates back to the slums and is one of the most wanted criminals.
Day tries to protect his family and breaks into a house a hospital for a cure for a virus to steal. However, the action is going wrong and he can just make more out of the dust. On his way he violated the soldier Metias, Junes brother.
As June is Metias learns of dead, main suspect is Day. With the support of the military it sets out all the stops to Day to grab ...
My impression
.....................................
Legend is told alternately through the eyes of Day and June. The presentation is nicely done, Days view is written in golden letters, Junes in black and a different font. Conveniently, is always at the top of the page from whose point of view is being told, for those who would still the overlooked yet :)
The story is designed to start as a cat and mouse game. Man pursues Junes investigations in the slums, until she finally meets Day. Getting to know then is Ruck Zuck processed, as well as the groundbreaking attraction - both initially do not know who is the other. At this point, so much more development could have taken place! The characters could have been worked out to the satisfaction they had fallen in love and the whole thing would have been understandable!
None: There is simply too short. 305 pages to a political regime to explain to little decent, introduce the main characters, let them fall in love and even go through with an action-packed plot. What remains of them? Unfortunately, the action-packed story. It was well built, but by the brief so straight that it was predictable again.
Day and June remain much too impersonal, their motives, desires and personality is touched on only briefly, nothing really stuck. In addition, both have absolutely no weaknesses! They are skilled scary, are ultra talented, know and can do everything right away. How can you put yourself in such Superheroes?
There is also far too little information about the Republic and the city in which the action takes place. One hat as a reader no idea why the company has developed in this way and why people participate in all without hesitation. (There are, for example, children after failed selection tests simply deprived parents and sent to storage.)
Whenever I thought, it is now under the surface, something has been dealt with briefly again ...
Conclusion
.............
Legend has me in places, very well maintained, but largely overtaken mark on me. The lack of preparation can be system and replace any characters unfortunately. There is nothing new, what stands out from already so many Dytsopieentwürfen.
