The zoom equivalent in weight and size and the filter diameter 18-55mm standard Samsung NX Kitzoom and is therefore very compact and light for such an objective. At the diffusion is good, the zoom ring runs evenly and smoothly. The material quality is good.
The lower focal length of 12mm allows a very creative use for landscapes and city and interior shots, but even with 24mm lens is good for Street and snapshots suitable where due to the aperture 5.6 exemption of motives is very difficult at the 24mm ( here the f2 / 30mm would be more appropriate)
The autofocus is very fast on the NX300 and the great depth of field also very safe.
The picture quality is good at open aperture and is by stopping down to about 6-8 Aperture also to the edge very sharp and only from aperture 16, the images are softer. While it is electronically in the camera (JPEG) corrected or the information on the RAW converter passed (Adobe Lightroom), but the images are also quite useful uncorrected. However, one must note the produce are no straight lines at 12mm focal length at the edge (but this simply has optical reasons)
What has impressed me most is the ability to backlit scenes without troublesome reflections, I have not managed so far to produce flares or color shifts (in contrast to 18-55, which is very susceptible)
The price is reasonable, and especially in comparison with other systems even for very low optical power.
All in all, I recommend this lens as always it and the 5 * rating I think is justified.
