As a regular computer player who has participated in the development of the last 15 years I can this
Game each player only recommend highly, because it's just very different than what I previously so
have played. Who then also decide on anti-war films like Apocalypse Now, Platoon and Full Metal Jacket
interested in the game to love almost. But beware: the madness is spreading slowly. A little bit
Patience you have already applying
Unfortunately, the game is slipped through a little bit, which is also reflected in the relatively poor sales
reflects. That's a real shame because it is in my opinion, is a real game-pearl,
it is definitely worth to be gambled, particularly as it is with Yager even a German developer studio
concerns. I had played it immediately on the screen and only now with some delay.
Now I would like to clarify in detail what the game so special, but also what his weaknesses are.
Minus:
The biggest negative point of Spec Ops: The Line is surely the beginning getting used to control and
especially the strong need of improvement coverage system. Under pressure from the X key, the figure should actually behind
the numerous coverage options entrench. This works sometimes at first click, but unfortunately too often
only after repeated pressing the X button while standing in the hail of bullets of enemies and doing one or the other
Time can be computer life. This is sometimes a bit annoying, because you as realistically withstand not too much damage as Spec Ops soldier. Va falls in Chapter 14 of this shortcoming on more than one is attacked from both sides by a stationary MG and additionally taken yet by a horde of soldiers targeted.
What I found quite unnecessary, was the reward (Extra Ammo) for the execution of wounded enemies. Where the game is designed eerily realistic in many places, it is unfortunately not. Why should we get some reward for that? However, because the execution is optional, it can also just let be.
Plus:
As mentioned above, the story and thus the feel in every aspect convincing. Never before in a game I felt so dirty and had to eat as much Sch. Again and again I have found myself in the middle of Apocalypse Now: disillusioned by a crazy war. Good and evil totally blurred. How Apocalypse Now is based Spec Ops: The Line on the work Heart of Darkness. Here, however, the story always works independently and never plagiarized.
If you know the Avatar Captain Walker initially completely convinced of his mission and his actions, so he gets in the course of the game more and more into doubt. His mental and physical decline can be read thanks to motion capture beautifully on the face and also the external appearance is worn more and more.
The attrition by one's actions and atrocities as well as the ever-increasing doubts of the two comrades (Lugo & Adams) on the decisions made by their superiors Walker (oneself) is repeatedly clear in cutscenes. So there is a growing aggression and suspicion of the three protagonists untereinander.Die two comrades are the own protagonist in the battle (almost always) to the side, where the AI
is quite well done. They opened fire at enemies without saying but they can also assign a specific destination with the R2 button, which is often useful for opposing snipers or stationary machine guns.
What the story incredibly well supported, is totally harmonious soundtrack. Killing initially for driving Hush by Deep Purple beautiful patriotic dubaische resistance fighters, is the soundtrack with increasing madness and confusion on the battlefield gloomy and psychedelic. Note 1 for this soundtrack!
In some reviews the violent brutality of Spec Ops is: The Line denounced. I can not really understand. Firstly, the game has been released from 18 years: Children and adolescents should not play the game, therefore, also. And above all, secondly, it concerns with Spec Ops: The Line in its claim of developing a realistic war scenario. When people are hit by a shell, it shreds it now times in different parts: that is what is shown in the game. And unfortunately includes burned bodies, sometimes of children, cruelty and madness of the war: showing the game as gritty. This violence is not glorified (especially if you have all played the game), but reflected the terrible implications of that.
Much worse, I would have found a censorship. Because then it would again be able leisurely sit back in his chair and can gamble a nice war simulator, without turning his brain. That also is sometimes perfectly okay, I really need not be mentioned.
The choices that one makes the game, one should not overstate. They are available sporadically, but just in the mortar scene that is often quoted, you can not decide freely. Nevertheless, I find the decision sequences well integrated into the game. Va the end is absolutely awesome. As far as I have come to realize that there are six different scenarios how the game can end, really let a breath away. This has been very well solved the developer. When I think of Far Cry 3 (the game is still great!)
In a review of a person complained that the difficulty level is way too high. I would not say so. I think that an average player on the medium difficulty should get any big problems. There are a few passages that have it in them (Chapter 14 or partly. The 'helicopter missions', where you can see the stationary machine guns bad), but you have also made fairly quickly with a little patience.
Total Yager has with Spec Ops: The Line designed an ingenious game. So dirty and brutal I've never seen implemented in a computer game, a war scenario. Never with me the line between good and evil has been so blurred as here. Of course there are shooters with better graphics and much better control / cover system. Nevertheless, I was so impressed by the overall impression none as Spec Ops: The Line. And that you think about a computer game even longer, comes also not frequently However, if a feel-shooter with clear good and evil scheme expects will be disappointed.
In this sense, the conclusion is: 5 Star. And I'm excited to see what comes next from Yager. The latte you have in any case set high.
Many Greetings
