Since today is the Desk Home app also available in Germany, but but you have to go in the Samsung App Store. In normal Android Market it is not (yet?) Not to be found. With this app, now everything works great. It starts automatically when the phone is placed in the station and shows on demand weather, time and / or calendar. After a while, start a screen saver in the form of a clock in yellow numerals on a black background (which is necessary, since OLEDs due to design tend to burn, Samsung can not help). Now it is also possible to use the audio output on the docking station. Therefore you have to push a button in the Desk Home app. Why is this necessary? The Galaxy S is only connected via the USB port with the docking station. So the audio data must be given anyway through the USB port on the station to be subsequently conducted in the station to the audio output on. The output via the USB port accepts the Desk Home app. Now you can start the music player and connect the Galaxy wonderfully to a facility or speakers. For me there is no noise.
A note that is often overlooked or not given: About the docking station, the Galaxy NOT leaves with a PC (or equivalent in data mode) connect. It's just a store possible !!
Update January 2012: Unfortunately, unfortunately, seems Samsung so slowly assumed the desire to support his former flagship Galaxy S with full commitment. Since the update to Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) a few months ago the DeskHome app is no longer offered. I have an update done without resetting the phone afterwards (factory reset or Wipe called) to 2.3.3. This I fortunately the app yet, and they will start automatically when you insert still the Galaxy in the charging station. However, no longer funtioniert weather function, since this was invoked through the Samsung Apps Daily Briefing, which was removed without replacement by the update to 2.3.3 by Samsung. Very sad of Samsung. However, it remains at five stars, because the dock is still super.
