These Alu short rod had many good reviews, I can confirm.
In the big city, in any event served its purpose, provides sufficient reception. Sometimes fades the "stereo width", but both the optical as well as the value for money I can recommend them to townsfolk.
Overland I do not get some channels, especially when the RDS transmitter must again re-circle on another frequency.
I use the middle rod (about 18 cm). Also fitted as standard Navi my works so (TMC). The longer rod reception is of course better, but does not act optically like that. That should then each decide in his own.

Conclusion: good compromise am satisfied
