My plot has about 600 m² of lawn and is not perfectly flat. The property is surrounded by a lawn edge of rectangular patch which is with the lawn at the same level. In addition, there are several curves and Beetumrandungen within the lawn.
These are already the 3 points that bring the Fiskars its limits and the reason why I can forgive no more than 1 star.
1) Uneven surfaces are for the Fiskars a problem: to the lowest cutting height adjustment, he ignored the lawn there consistently. The grass is not cut but simply flattened. Only on the lowest setting, the grass is partially cut. Only then regularly blocked the cutter unit, because then get even stones or Rindenmulchteilchen between the blade and the cutting edge.
Only with completely flat surfaces that does not happen. However, the Fiskars ignored here consistently high grass (and anything above a certain amount). Although the grass comes under the spindle turns after driving over them again but unharmed on.
The momentum is so very picky, only recently possible and uniform lawn he is serving. Owner of an English lawn could therefore get really satisfactory results.
In my Grounds anyway my old Kress cylinder mower achieved significantly better average results, even on uneven surfaces. Also for the Rider and gasoline mowers deliver my neighbor from a more uniform result, especially when the lawn edge.
2) Since the lawn edges are on a level with the lawn, the Fiskars would not really exactly with his "lawn edge side" to be driven on the stones along, but could also roll on the stones to cut the grass near the edge. But neither directly on the stones, slightly overlapping or semi-riding on the stones of Fiskars mows the grass near the edge. I have found no way to cut satisfactorily with the Fiskars lawn edging. The 20 cm in front of the lawn edge remain uncut. So the Edging I have to continue to go to the Kress cylinder mower. And although that is actually not made due to the side-mounted wheels ensure the result is satisfactory.
3) for rounds and shapes in Beetumrandungen and lawn edge is the Fiskars also completely unsuitable. The wide wheelbase results in a very stiff steering behavior. Curves are probably also not intended in the design, only straight lines. Could have already guessed from the pictures. Anyway, you have a curve then several times just drive up, drive back, re-start and drive up again. Quite cumbersome. For rounding, a smaller reel mower or a motor-driven device is more suitable.
Frech is also that is advertised with the large cutting width of 46 cm. Here the spindle width is simply stated, but only the grass is cut between the wheels, which corresponds to a significantly lower average width of about 35 cm. The wheels press the grass flat, it will no longer cut here. Anyone can try it yourself: first mowing a new strip, then to stem width added a second target. It remains a highly visible, uncut piece in the center left (about 10 cm). Only when one puts its stripes to wheel width (about 35 cm), the strips are seamlessly. But 35 cm can also most other reel mowers, thus does not need to advertise it ...
The Kroeung but: after about 6 times will insert the cutting unit so distorted by a small stone between knife edge and that the Fiskars grinds on one side of the edge. And so much so that even a complete turning back the adjustment does not help. On your side block the knife, on the other hand, too much air. Mowing no longer possible. I try the device on the warranty return.
Conclusion: the Fiskars Momentum cuts poorly, is difficult to maneuver around curves, has a narrow cutting width, is unsuitable for lawn edges, ignored consistently high grass and goes quickly broken. As a training device for the muscles and condition of Fiskars is great though. It is good to sweat at work. For 300, - EUR, however, significantly overpriced.
