Opinion:
I had indeed ordered the book a year ago because I could no longer expect, but then waited for the third volume and then read the series in one go.
Juliette Adam, James and Kenji are in Omega Point, where they learn that they are not the only ones who have special skills. Finally they have a home where they can be who they are. However, they must train hard to guard against any abuse and then Juliette learns about Adam, which threatens to destroy everything they fought.
On the one hand I found the book really well, on the other but unfortunately mediocre.
Let's start with the rather not so great part to: Juliette and Adam. Man who excited me. I would not call it because it was a very cool moment, to which I shall return later briefly, but the two have their differences the reason. This dispute is not resolved quietly, but they scream frequently before the assembled troops and fall over each other because something is not the way they want.
I liked very Juliette. However, it is clear that she has changed. That the experiences have changed them, so Adam is not clear and I do not even. Juliette is very bitchy at once, because she realizes what she can and has nothing in common with the gray mouse that fits all. She has suddenly become very arrogant and gets Adam to feel. That made me mad, because I want to still like Juliette, but she was partly really too much for me.
Similarly Adam. He was always calm and collected, as rational thinking, while emotional and affectionate. Now he's just mad, self-absorbed, apathetic and quarrelsome. I no longer recognized him and asked me what I have found in him. Frankly, I am therefore a little bit mad at Tahereh Mafi.
These parts take a lot of space in the story, and I thought that was boring. The plot does not move forward and the characters turn into catty teenagers who must argue out their love life above all.
I still lack explanations. How did it happen that Juliette has this ability? Gene is not a sufficient answer for me. Because how does it happen that so many of the others genes that have different special abilities? How did it happen that the Reestablishment could seize power itself?
We learn so little from the outside world. It always sits around just in any bunkers and do not know what happens in this so different world. How does it look like? Which led so? How other people live?
Unfortunately, I fear that I will never get answers to these questions, but I'll wait
Let's talk about the things that have pleased me well: The writing style. I'm a fan of Tahereh Mafi's writing style. And how. This unique juxtaposition of words, of letters that produce such wonderful pictures in my mind, that is unique. Therefore, I recommend everyone to read books in English, because the language of art is, from which one can learn a lot as non-native speakers.
The way they amplified optical substantive things, I found also as well done.
In addition, two factors were included in the book that made me speechless. Once the knowledge with respect to Adam and then with respect to Adams past. I would never, never, never, never expected so and that was good! This simplifies the action and leaves much room for band three and I can not wait, how do these things and how to resolve the people react to it.
The highlight of the book is Warner. We learn a lot about him, his way of thinking and his past (something I've complained in Destroy me yes). He is for me the most realistic figure of all, because he has so widespread and profound personality over. As ordinary people just as well. Again and again he surprises the reader with new things and that was exciting. More exciting than the brawlers.
The training of people in Omega Point is well done, but would have to be described in my opinion, more precisely in order to be able to answer some questions from above. That would have me at least a thousand times more interesting than the love stories of Juliette and Adam. At least Kenji has the very funny comments.
Conclusion:
I'm ambivalent. The book does have some very exciting discoveries that drive the plot and make exciting. Here but too many questions remain unanswered and the figures are to be isolated from the rest of the world, what unrealistic. Boring are the interminable discussions between love and Juliette Adam, who also lose sympathy points. Warner is my hero because he is the only one who seems to be normal. I am very curious to see how it will all end in Band 3.
