- No standard connector for headphones (3.5 mm or 2.5 mm jack), but adapters available for little Euros.
- Headphones and charging cable connector in a. That means going to hear music at the same time charging and not (or only available special cable).
- Not really good photo quality despite Schneider-Kreuznach lens and 5 megapixels.
- Menu does not customizable. LG is here the nine - in their opinion - the most important applications before. What also goes OK. But if you really have time an application that you want to access quickly, you can not put on the home screen.
- No Wi-Fi. This is now perhaps not so important, but if you have no Internet-Flat, wireless would be helpful. I have it and surf via EDGE in e-net. The transmission speed is enough for me. UMTS HSDPA at least I have not missed.
- Something "zwittriges" scroll. Because sometimes you can scroll with finger movement, but sometimes only on the jog wheel on the back.
- The fixed assigned data storage. This is the largest decline with distance. Despite very much free memory in the phone itself, allows the Viewty only 5 (yes, five) notes and only 100 calendar notes. The notes you are logically quickly at the end, but also in the calendar entries is fast closing time and you do not have when you synchronize with Outlook choose which items you take on and what. This is annoying if you the phone - like me - uses also for business. Although there are only 100 tasks allowed. But I think as a long task list has hardly anyone.
- The pairing via Bluetooth to my PC to synchronize does not work out. This is partly probably the phone or its Sync software itself, on the other hand I know that my Fritz-BT stick is clearly the least mobile. I know because even my Nokia from earlier was not able to allow the syncing via BT. The Nokia Support told me back then that the Fritz-BT stick will not support. The exchange of data (ie, the back and forth sending files zwwichen PC and mobile but funzt properly. Strange but that was with previous phones like this. However, as long as supplied with the phones a data cable, I see no need to buy me another BT stick ( so much also for "BT uniform standard" ...).
- The usual feedback from a touchscreen input by vibration is not available in Java applications.
- The 'in-house Internet browser "is used to. Therefore, I have also installed Opera Mini.
- The built-in speaker sounds easy quäkig in speakerphone or with media playback through this. Since I anyway do not want to impose my taste in music around me and for signaling of calls is sufficient not an issue for me, but for others maybe important.
- The supplied headphones are not suitable for discerning listener. Also they sound slightly quäkig and little harmony. With an adapter for normal mini-jack and my Sennheiser InEars it sounds great. Since then I also need not (not present in any case) equalizer in Music player.
Now for the positives:
+ Extremely robust. I have had the phone as I said already almost two years and never in a protective case o. Ä.. Only the top has a screen protector. As often as the part was carried in the pocket or jacket pocket or flew down, you really have to say that the Viewty still looks except for a few scratches on the chrome parts as new.
+ The touchscreen concept is implemented brilliantly. I've never used a stylus and could serve all men with my fingers. The input keyboard is huge compared to many other phones. The fact that each input is acknowledged with a vibration, resulting in a top-notch quality control. This is easy with one hand. System do I have a HTC Touch. This stinks compared from total, as this is next to nothing without stylus.
+ The battery lasts a long time if you use it normally. I have the "power saving mode" is activated, in which the display brightness (which is adjustable) is 20%. The display is thus still very bright and easy to read. Most recently, I have a new original battery for just over 20 put on me because I had wrecked the first with a cheap car charger. The battery lasts me about five days when I do not too much what the backlight calls. So z. B. calls in about 45 minutes, 3-4 hours Internet or other applications the battery lasts about 5 days through. I hear a lot of music or even play more than 5-6 hours will the battery after 2 days to the grid.
+ The service works intuitive and self-explanatory. The manual I've never needed.
+ The Sync software funzt properly with the (supplied) data cable. However, I have the feeling that the transfer of files over the mode "USB memory" goes faster than the software mode "USB data service.
+ The installed on the phone document viewer can display MS Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF's. Important than business users, because so email attachments can be viewed in these popular formats. Who wants to edit Office files cheer phone, can call for. Instance to the Java applet "Mini-Excel". This makes but on the phone anyway not much fun.
+ The transmitting and receiving power (in the e-network) outstanding.
+ With a little research on the web under the Java applications can be "pimped" and the Viewty. Since I do not need "apps" and other gimmicks.
So I can see the partial negative reviews here for KU990i not understand. For me, this phone is an absolute recommendation for both multimedia fans as well as for business users and also for Otto-Normal-phone users. It is easy to operate and has super with his "key Vibration" operator a feeling like a real cell phone buttons, but just that it takes full advantage of the capabilities of a Touchscreen regarding screen size. I miss no mechanical keyboard because I here just can make entries quickly and safely and also still have the option next to the keypad and a QWERTY keyboard to select or handwriting recognition.
I am so excited by this phone from LG that I - should the Viewty someday give up his spirit - which is not currently in sight - determined to buy a replacement thereof. And it's now in comparison with current mobile phones visually and technically a good figure and is now also favorable to have. However, stay away from the light version. The data has no wires, no headphones, and probably not a Schneider-Kreuznach lens (if you can believe other users).
