Asus has really outdone themselves with the Transformer

I find that Asus TF101 Transformer is an absolute top appliance, which I can only recommend to anyone who plays with the idea to buy a tablet.

Especially in combination with the optional keyboard dock and possibly the related to Tablet Sleeve. (See my other reviews)

First, once a few sentences for the first impression in the delivery:

- I was simply amazed. Alone the entire presentation of the packaging and the "transport safety" (film, which protects the device really around completely) simply switched only value. The same was of course the keyboard But the Sleeve and the case.

- The only thing I would "complain" in this context is that the charging cable (which at the same time the USB cable to connect the tablet to a PC's - actually a pretty clever solution) unfortunately only very briefly fails (only 90 cm ). This would calm can be a bit longer, but the one can counteract by a simple extension cord.

Price-performance ratio:

- I think it's very good when you consider that you get for the money a high-quality and powerful tablet that you can do in an instant into a truly full-fledged netbook. In addition, one can now also on the 100, - dodge favorable variant with 16 GB of memory. (I have the 32GB version)

Processing:

- As already mentioned above, the Transformer for me simply radiates from only value. The back is indeed made of plastic, but this was for a really good Habtik and it formed no ugly fingerprints on them. He also saves weight. Had he made of aluminum, I would imagine that the tablet would have been too heavy. So it's really pleasant in weight. The outer frame is made of aluminum and so provides a very stable, robust impression. Furthermore, I can state my device even no processing defects or the like. Even if I try the tablet in to easy to get over (which is in everyday use nobody really expects of such a device) creaks nothing and the transitions of different materials are easily processed very well.

- The display is very sharp, taking touch commands very well and precise and I doubt that you would ever be able to scratch in normal use. (Just search on Youtube for Gorilla Glass). The touch screen is so precise that I can select sites on even very small links without zooming simple and precise (had as yet no touch screen, which can pull this off, either in mobile phones or elsewhere and my fingers are really not petite, I am a man: D)

Camera:

- Well what can I say already great camera? Of course you do not replace full-fledged digital camera, but for snapshots reichts all times. I had my Let's be honest: Who please buys for a tablet because he wants to make high-gloss photos? So as I said. The pictures are fine, but you will be so well-poster can not create)

Speaker:

- Similar to the camera, it behaves naturally with the speakers. They are in my opinion perfectly fine. They are sufficiently loud that you can understand what, when playing music or movies. A little bit louder they could possibly be, but the way they are, it is already very good. I mean, when you consider the size and shape of the device, you can actually imagine that there simply drinsteckt no 800-watt bass machine with 7.1 surround sound. : D But one can then still reasonable headphone / speaker of Sennheiser, Bose and Co on the jack plug, if you want.

Connectivity:

- Using the included USB cable, which simultaneously serves as a yes charging cable when connecting it to the power supply, the tranformer is easy to connect to the PC
- Bluetooth so far I could not test, because I still had no use for this purpose
- The Wi-Fi module is actually quite good. Anyway, I can not make much difference to the notice of my notebook, neither from her throughput, even on the range. The only thing it does not recognize are unfortunately 5GHz wireless, but for example, can the PS3 is not even so does not seem to be the rule that the wireless controller that can (my notebook kanns anyway)
- A UMTS module would have been certainly not shlecht, but the 3G version will indeed surely come. However, I did not want to wait so long. But who still owns a smartphone anyway, so can also surf via mobile tethering with the Transformer)

Software / hardware:

- Can only say that the Android operating system "Honeycomb" is really very easy to understand (is my first device running Android software), and you have absolutely no problems to understand its operation. Especially when you just a little time which tried, but the operation is very intuitive.
- The combination of Honeycomb and the installed hardware runs really very fluid without disturbing bucking, etc.
- Solely some apps sometimes have a few problems with the tablet. Here but you must also note that the Android Market, too has yet to grow a bit and it especially does not yet exist a lot of apps that were made geziehlt for Android tablets. I think it just needs a little time. In general, one must say also that you indeed can save a lot of apps generally located. At least those who only serve the Aneigeform of certain sites adapted for the mobile format, because by the 10 'big screen one can just about all sides simply open the normal browser and watch.
- What is more noticeable very positively the touch screen keyboard, the Asus has really designed very nicely. This has namely innately one more line and thus forms standard already the number series with off, which saves the hassle of switching to the numeric keypad (eg for entering passwords, etc). Since it was really time thought along with Asus. Other Android tablets have this line at the time that is not unfortunately.

Battery:

- The battery performance of Transformer I find really excellent. Did this really maxed out completely today times. The tablet battery held here between 9-10 hours and switched on permanently in wireless because of course full time was used almost exclusively for surfing and chatting on the Internet. Then I just connected the not quite fully charged keyboard dock (this was several days just on the table without loading) and I came at the end of an overall service life (battery + Tablet Dockakku) of more than 17 hours. As I said at permanent wireless use and used browser. Had the dock really been 100% loaded, it would have the total service life probably really doubled.

I use the Transformer mainly to surf, chat, email friends, etc and am glad I finally am truly mobile for such things (for example, inside the home, in the garden or elsewhere, if the Internet is available via tethering) , also I need it no longer continually my "big" notebook to go up, which with absolute certainty and much much more Srom eats as the tablet. The default browser of Android also works really well (has actually NEN own name?), But I got myself additionally the Opera from the Android Market for free. Just because I like Opera, because it was not notwenidig :) The general Flash support can be really all Internet content easily view.

Finally, I would add that the keyboard dock is definitely worth! People ordered you either equal a bundle, if it is eventually offered, or ordered the dock right at the tablet to purchase. (The entire review is written so that, for example), it's just the keyboard which I believe this device so unique and the purchase decision can ultimately turn out well for the Transformer. It's just a really full QWERTY keyboard. Even the German "special noises" ÜÄÖ are available plus a whole range of really useful modifier keys (for example screenshot, touchpad disable, Konrast, brightness, settings, volume up / down / mute, etc), even if on the Amazon images an English QWERTY keyboard is displayed. It is definitely a German QWERTZ. And the built-in keyboard USB 2.0 ports (2 pieces) and the 3-in-1 card reader values ​​the entire device to clear.
