I'm surprised to see so many good appreciations for this product. Maybe is it a series of questions, subcontractor, luck, but copies I bought were very disappointing: I have ordered two just before last Christmas (2009), to put in a Lumix FZ38. One of the two batteries work properly (if only it takes less time charging the Panasonic), but the second does not close the valve blocking the camera, one that holds the battery into place once the cover is opened. Therefore unusable. To understand what stuck, I look under the microscope the gold contact pads and compares them to those of the original battery supplied with the camera, as the plastic shells are outwardly very similar. However, the finish of these contacts is substantially different, much coarser on the substitute, with wider spacings, over the game. And, especially, the defective copy, one of the pads 4 is not lined up like the others. That's why it will not fit in the device. For the price, and as the other copy functions, and as it should be referred that in England, I drop ...
In preparation for a recent trip, I order last week (February 2010, so two good months after) another of these alternative batteries, "in case", thinking that an accident on one copy is exceptional. But exactly the same problem occurs, and the microscope, the same coarseness of finish compared to the Panasonic battery is visible, and even misalignment of contacts ... So, unusable second battery.
Well, you do what you want, but be warned: if a battery of two (at least) is not usable, I think it is better to pay more and have a safe product. As for me, I will surely not repeat that, and leaving without battery "in case" ...
Update April 7, 2010: The third battery, which worked flawlessly, dropped just after 5 months of good service! It is "recognized" by the camera as empty by the charger but charge more ... obvious conclusion to draw from this experience triple, and even if it is cheap, the price does not justify the invalidity of that product that Amazon should not offer its customers ... Too bad ...
