Primitive (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Was the first "Soulfly" album is not much more than a good, healthy but unfortunately in many places very uncontrolled emotion outburst, one has now probably reassured the house "Soulfly" something.
Who now thinks, however, that it is possible to more pop, chart suitable Lalala here - close Music, which has clearly made a mistake in the category.
Because "Soulfly" turn on "Primitive" by no means a walk down, but you just feel that everything seems thoughtful, structured and controlled.
The initial anger from the first album is still there, only this is now directed in a controlled manner, whereby the plate somehow gets a clearer character. The songs are not so tangled up as before, but all consistently pursue a line, but still remain varied.
This in turn is mainly due to the plethora of guest musicians who give here the catch in hand.
Besides bawlers as Chino Moreno of Deftones, Corey Taylor (8) of Slipknot or Tom Araya of Slayer, also quieter characters like Sean Lennon or a female soul voice can be found on the disk.
The songs themselves are made up of variety. In almost every song there's some break before once again to rock properly.
In addition, each song has its own individual character, which really every song sounds different, you do not constantly feel while listening has thus always blown the same song to the ears to come.
Time grooving "Soulfly" like hell, another time they dash madly forward or give yourself more melodic.
For ease of estimation, there is a brief description of the songs for the first time by myself with individual assessment.
***** = Perfect
* = Nix Gutt
1. Back to the primitive
Here we have directly to do with the first murderer from the "Soulfly" Arsenal. "Back to the primitive" grooves as hell and generated a lot of energy that brings sure all pits on the concerts to a boil! The song is rocked straight, in the middle there's ne little breather, which is bridged with different effects and drums. The chorus is very good hang and may also be good mitgeschrieen. A very good song, but not the Oberhammer.

2. Pain
And here comes the first singer to use. Chino Moreno from the Deftones not quite unknown band here provides a shouting match with Max that you'd think the devil was after them. The song moves through mid-tempo area is also provided with NEM rough Groove and ideally suited to time to shout all his frustration of the soul.
Chino's bright, emotional cry is in stark contrast to Cavalera's dark bawling. This is what makes namely the attraction of this piece.

3. Bring it
Click here for about 2 minutes in good old Trash fashion mercilessly forward. Afterwards, there is a minute completely calm music with various percussion instruments. Could one even imagine as meditation music. But after a minute the boys beat then mercilessly all frizzy and small.
A super hard song that will make everyone happy Trasher.

4. JumpDaFuckUp
Guest appearance number 2. This time with none other than Corey Taylor, the number 8 of the total disturbed mask band Slipknot. Of particular note here is that this does not matter as the Slipknot records like crazy rumschreit, but at least in the verses with a steady, hypnotic voice a quite nervous before he suddenly goes along with Max Cavalera in a frenzied cries. Whoever can still sit still either deaf or paraplegic. A song that definitely powerful making therefore, and to the one still likes to remember in 10 years. My absolute favorite!

5. Mulambo
A fast and damn cool groovy song. In the verses, there's ne Art Chanting from ner mixture purtugisisch - English. Towards the end use various drums and percussion, bring a Brazilian character in the song. At the end of the song mutates into a fast, driving Trash grenade.

6. Son Song
The song does not fit somehow to this album. The guitars are less punchy, seem more subdued. These sings this Sean Lennon with calm, melodious voice, which forms a complete contrast to Max aggressive roar. Thus this song lives mainly by the change Soft and Hard, perhaps like one or the other inspire among you, but I do not think very much of it. If it did not make the album varied, you could be the song can also save.

7. Boom
Again a groove song. Works in the verses somehow cumbersome and slow, what exactly constitutes the charm of the piece. The chorus delivered a formal, and freed by Max`s incredibly deep bawling. In between, you can hear every now and then small but nice melodies. The jungle drums or what should be the come good. Overall, the song can not convince me but really because he somehow comes across boring and monotonous.

8. Terrorist
Here every "Slayer" fans will have fun. Because Mr. Tom Araya of the aforementioned "murderers" here delivers a wrong antiphon with Cavalera. The Result? A merciless beating fast and driving song that can shred an eardrum. Especially at the end when the pace is again screwed strong upward GREAT CARE J
Just wonderful!
*****
9. The prophet
The shortest song on the album. Three minutes spent here from thick to fear everything into the ground. "The Prophet" drives with incredible power up front, and is crowned by a beautiful Mitgröhlrefrain. At the end of strong voltage is again produced which then discharges to death groovy final part in a.
*****
10. Soulfly II
As on the first album, these are a very peaceful, instrumental song that can be use to meditate already. There are only heard various percussions and acoustic guitar sounds, miss the song a Brazilian flair. Six minutes, you can sit back here and relax.
****
11. In memory of you
A very hip-hop-heavy piece, in which the rapper get involved from a very unknown band called "Cut Throat Logic". The chorus put fat guitars and Max screams the hell out of them. For people who want a little thing with hip Hop the harder varieties can begin safely recommended.
***
12. Flyhigh
"Flyhigh" is somewhat similar to "The Prophet". But there is a huge difference. The wonderful chorus sings a female soul voice.
No nonsense, I never thought that something like that goes so well with this music. The contrast between Max` voice and this soul singer comes over very well and makes this song to another absolute highlight!

Cover:
The cover was this time in the spirit of the title easily, but not designed primitive. On the front a bird is displayed, the just rises from fire. So something like the Phoenix from the ashes. The red in the background to be the sun, the yellow is colored by the sunset sky. The green color represents the forest.
On the insides of all texts and pictures are printed from the recordings. Very good I like the many ancient pictures and figures.
Conclusion:
"Primitive" I can recommend to all interested parties would highly here. Anyone who can what to do with Slayer, Sepultura, Slipknot, Ill Nino, or the like, is how to fulfill its costs. Allen Metalfans was laid that thing anyway to my heart. Even people who will be more likely to Hardcore thereto are bound to find favor.
The melodic fraction among you, as well as softer, who like it trendy, however, should stay away from this monster sound.
Will never be bored, unless you listen to the plate up and down all day. Although I know now all the songs by heart, I search the board again and again out of the closet and enjoy. Simply a timeless album that does not lose its appeal even after a long time and totally convincing can - Prima!
Let's hope that "Soulfly" carry on with their next album where they left off with "Primitive"
