What I've loved, among others, Caves music so was its originality and irreplaceable ... The music and the lyrics, which sprang his head, had a personal "touch", were distinctive and really not for everyone. Old albums like "From Her To Eternity" and "The Firstborn Is Dead" still had this wonderful, so delightful for me peculiarity to be "getting used to" and in no circumstances catchy. One had already Cave like to abgewinnen these plates anything. "Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus" is already again a wonderfully promising title - but unfortunately, the disk is not so mystical and strange, as he promises. Of course, it can be found great songs like "Hiding All Away", in which the gospel choir in my opinion stands for the best, "Fable of the Brown Ape", "Easy Money", "Carry me" or the opener "Get ready for but they all have really only by Nicks distinctive organ that, sighing, longing and roar is equally gorgeous in hum and whine in, keep the style - love "; otherwise it is partly songs (eg "Breathless" od "Nature Boy" that can also press another Comforter singer in his hand, and he sings it, without that anything does not fit -. that would be with the old songs like " Tupelo "," Cabin Fever "or" Saint Huck "course and luckily have been impossible. So that's the negative, because of which I have taken off the star. Nevertheless, the album deserves 4 stars because it is produced very complicated and - is nice to hear - although not as Cave-typical. The Bad Seeds understood it finally always to evolve and this time Nick is with his band up to something more serene, solemn manner with a chorus the glory instead einzunebeln us with gloomy melancholy. (Could also to the sad resignation of Blixa Bargeld are) Who else has heard of Nick Cave, which I do not recommend this CD, but prefer the classics ("Let Love In", "Murder Ballads", "From Her to Eternity" etc. ...), but for fans it is of course compulsory purchase, not least because of the beautiful cover.
