All this makes the Macpower SK-3500 (inXtron) perfect. The housing is made of lightweight, matte aluminum and is relatively small. The appearance is close to the trite Apple optics. I do not mind. The huge Plastikbomber competitors are worse. It does not need a fan and in continuous operation in the summer with a Seagate 1TB 5400 U / min, it is just slightly warm. The power supply is external and sitting medium on the outlet. Vibration transmission goes like this. The case stands on 4 rubber feet. If you want to use stronger vibration hard drives or the cabinet is on lighter ground, maybe you should stick to a few Filzfüße underneath. The disk itself can not freely hang. With CrystalDiskInfo or other tools you can read out the SMART values of the plate. This is handy to react to malfunctions.
Assembly is super easy. Unwrapped, plate fixed with four screws supplied inserted, tighten four screws, four rubber feet underneath stick, plug - running. Thanks to USB 3.0, performance is limited only by the built-in HDD.
Overall, highly recommended.
