I purchased the capsule lamps 2 months ago and was first impressed by the brightness at so low power consumption. A conventional transformer with 40W operates my low-voltage rail to the well since Monten MR16 LEDs are operated by 3-5 watts. The light is turned on 10 hours a day because it is professionally genutzen room. After a week of a lot to me, a chemical odor that I could not identify at first. One week later the Lamen were identified as the cause, because the smell had spread throughout the operation. After 4 weeks, the silicon of the first lamps became turbid yellowish and after another four weeks I had at half the lamps a total failure and brown turbid silicone. The smell I have ignored, as the space can ventilate daueraft, but that's not healthy for sure. Why should it make sense also to interrupt the heat dissipation of the LEDs with silicone? The other LEDs I order only with open SMDs without silicone. Even this should not be damaged when dropped (that's never happened to me in glass halogen lamps).
