So the good pieces full of anticipation to the recently unpacked Olympus OMD EM-10 has been connected and tested.
First impression: Geiler Viewpoint - The decision for this focal length was definitely the right one.
Second impression: Beautiful gimmicks with the depth of field thanks f1.8 no problem - despite the small MFT sensor.
Third impression: Where do these opinions come on the Internet? The sharpness surmounted all the lenses I've used on my Canon DSLR (35mm / f2, 17-50mm / 2.8, 50mm / 1.8, 10-22mm, 8mm / f.3,5).
At that moment it was clear to me: If show at the first photo tour with no solid shortcomings is the part of my "Always top". In the next few days I was traveling a lot more detail to try to the good piece.
Here are my impressions:
Sharpness: The complaints focus can not understand how I said. As with most lenses, it is extremely strong, especially at close range - and from open aperture.
Aberration: The image quality is outstanding, even at full aperture. Both Vignette, chromatic aberrations and are absolutely within the framework and not negatively striking.
Operation: The lens can be operated very comfortable - I especially like the ability to draw the focus ring back and then automatically switch to MF mode, which is really a very good idea. The focus ring can be turned very pleasant and has in my opinion perfect resistance.
Somewhat confused me the rather tight fit on the lens mount. However, this probably seems to be normal, which I welcome, as I observed always easy game on the bayonet in larger DSLRs.
Feel: to feel I have already written above that I am very excited. The is nothing to add - I find this lens absolutely perfectly finished.
Focal length: Yes, the decision for a focal length is (for me) often is not easy. Many are also with itself in conflict, whether they are more likely to pick up the 17er or 25er to. Of course experts say "Take both, each has its place" - but often forget that also each has its price;)
I was looking for a focal length which allows me landscape, city, people and leave together with exemption potential in an objective to unite. Sounds really for an impossible task - but a 35mm in my opinion, the only possible compromise that.
Wide angled enough for landscapes, normal enough to photograph people, universal enough to use it as a Always plan and blessed with a viewing angle of the images brings the images no "this effect" but a "middle" effect.
The opportunities that arise through the open aperture of f1.8 Tuen rest.
Conclusion:
For me was absolutely the right decision. This lens is so universally applicable that my purchase plans for additional lenses are first disappeared. I have absolutely no criticism of exercising this beauty, it is exactly what I was looking for what I need, what I do not want to miss - made to perfection.
Absolute buy recommendation.
