I use this with a 17 "HP Pavilion 1196eg
Here is my own impression:
Positives:
1. The laptop fits it, only the speakers are each about 1 cm covered, not looks perfect but has no adverse effect on the sound.
2. The sound was not my criterion, as the HP speaker völligst sufficient Allerding voice sound a bit bulky.
3. Cooling, my main criterion because after prolonged play graphic-heavy games like MW2, Far Cry 2, Crysis and so the laptop overheated and shut down, as long as one has not "jacked up". Play on your lap is not possible because the center seated graphics unit as is so hot that it hurts.
The pad shoveling in more bearable volume, as much air at this point that it has now given even after several hours of play does not crash.
4. The fan itself is in the laptop hibernation audible, but then you can switch off this well. However, when you play it does not stand out as 1. the CPU fan revs and 2. the soundscape of the game drowned out these (or someone plays without sound?)
Now the negative points:
1. The cable is too short and therefore relatively inflexible in the choice of USB Ports
2. The cable has no storage compartment, one can indeed jam on the side, but this support does not hold very well and the plug bothers me there a little.
3. It would have been nice if the CPU is mounted which in my upper left, a little cool air would gotten, but this is probably more difficult to implement, because not every manufacturer installed the CPU in the same place.
All in all, I would buy the pad again.
One last note, the pad has in connection with the laptop has a very high weight. I do not mind that because it is also because the "normal" 17 "+ laptop is already quite heavy. The pad alone I would not call it heavy that needs but everyone decide for themselves.
