Rockstar Games has once again managed to make an original, well thought out and credible setting on its feet. While GTA IV in my opinion is just average and falls far short of the fun, funny characters and the variety of its predecessor San Andreas, the guys at Rockstar have landed with the playable Western "Red Dead Redemption" a direct hit. In a world of always the same war shooters, fantasy role-playing games and racing games a real ray of hope. Turning first to the pinnacle of the Rockstar family: the story. The leading protagonist John Marston from the Wild West state of New Austin to cross the border into Mexico. Over time, it becomes clear: the married family man has a less than immaculate past. He killed and robbed with his gang until they left her wounded him. Now he is being blackmailed by a government agency, who hold his wife Abigail and her son Jack. They force him to bring his old band members to track - dead or alive. In fact, can a game much freedom of choice, as also already in GTA IV your decisions affect the story and side missions. The characters range from cliche characters such Sherrifs and farmers to gay Mexican military and an eccentric revolutionary. The cutscenes look good, the Synchro is fine, thanks to English language with subtitles. The story alone will already (stubbornly played through) several days. If one adds mini-jobs (thieves kill), side missions, Herrausforderungen (bounty hunters, horses breaking in, etc.) and play poker, blackjack, dice, etc., it takes no less than twice as long. There are even black and white films in cinema (who is quite in itself, but see for yourself). Anyone who wants to make money fast times, just chasing a variety of animals (from the crow to Grizzly and more) and sold their items from the merchants. A relatively wide range of weapons can be found or bought. From small revolver to sniper and even blasting gun, everything is possible. Throwing knives and tomahawks serve the silent elimination of opponents. The missions themselves are varied and fun. Unlike GTA there are checkpoints, a good protection against frustration moments. There are gunfights, chases on foot, horses, carriages, and even one of the first cars with mounted machine guns and stealth deposits, escorts and the usual Hol-This-Destroy-The. Now to gameplay: Thanks to the aforementioned activities, there is never a dull moment in the excessively large map. Cities are in the world of Red Dead Redemption Magelware. Only here and there are abandoned huts, sometimes a church, the "capital" Blackwater perhaps measures 10x10 block. The rather long way through the pampas are, however, accompanied by story relevant and funny dialogues. Although a horse has facilitated free no radio, but the Western Sound can be proud. And along the way is always something going on. The shootings are fun, the environment is to detail and looks very authentic. The unlock and purchase new outfits, weapons, refuges or horses motivated over a long period. Not quite as smooth running physics. Often the control is hakelig and you fall into the next canyon, into the water (John Marston can not swim) or one seat as a cover, that still gives off an easy target. Or John wobbles so much that some small stairs to the puzzle are in the curves. In addition, horses can only turn, do not run backwards. Unnecessary mistakes that interfere with the liquid overall picture. Eben If inherited from GTA brother. Instead of the star, there is now an arbitrarily high bounty. By charters or bribery you can just get rid of it. However, a real novelty is the "honor" -Barrometer. If it is high, Marston is a folk hero, is it in the minus range, he is feared and despised as an outlaw. Both sides have their merits, unlike GTA is the "good" way here even simpler and more profitable. But you have to opt for one of the two paths in order to properly use Privillegien can. In the Game-Of-The-Year-Edition contains all the DLC (clothing, horses, etc), and "Undead Nightmare", a horror version of the world of Red Dead Redemption. Zombies overrun the Wild West, with torches and under constant resource scarcity try the survivors of the plague to master. It gillt to find a cure and to clean New Austin, piece by piece. Many characters dive again (even those who died in Red Dead Redemption ...) and also take care here for great cutscenes. Really creepy, it is rare, but it's fun anyway. But the hordes of the undead not just shine with its great AI. Only their sheer mass makes them the challenge. I recommend the GOTY Edition, as you come off better in view of the prices for the main game, and all DLC Undead Nightmare, the total package. Blunders not afford the game thankfully. Recommended especially to those who have of GTA, Call of Duty, Battlefield and Need for Speed are fed up.
