Bubbles (Paperback)

Customer Review

The 38 bubbles - very brief fragments of life - that make up the book are so short (2-4 pages) that one wonders if it is still really new. Fans of the genre may be surprised, even disappointed with the minimalist approach of the author. The fact remains that C. Castillon has a real talent when it comes in a few lines, a few sentences to bite a person, a feeling, an emotion, big and small through men.

With a sharp eye, she observes his contemporaries and in his own bubble transformed with an incisive pen what she saw, to depict scenes from ordinary life which abound pettiness, malice, contention, harassment, tyranny, cowardice, meanness, cruelty, contempt.

The tone without squeaking is not less bite and this villainies succession eventually make reading a bit heavy. We look, we expect a sign of goodness, kindness, generosity, kindness, tenderness. In vain. Rather to read discontinuously at the risk of nausea.

"Sadism is a great remedy against indifference, but what sadness in my heart."
