About this unit:
Positives:
- Clear-read display, even in the dark not too bright
- Good sound, slightly bass-heavy high-frequency portions, but this is bearable
- Push / knob to activate / deactivate (a miracle that there is something still or again, there is nothing better in the dark intuitiverses and tactile, analogeres as push / knobs!)
- Pleasant, simple design
Negatives:
-. No backup battery, after a power failure of 5 seconds is the clock at "00:00" => a disaster
- The radio can pick the time new to it, but only in DAB coverage areas and therefore not in Austria
- RDS scrolling text is blurred and unreadable because an FL display is it fundamentally unsuitable (too slow), and the font is running too fast. If, for. Example, reading a book and display the field of view is, one constantly sees the faded marquee on the screen scuttle, the annoying enormously, and also can not be switched off (it would be by software a breeze to install a menu to switch off, but I reckon not the fact that Philips does for me). Dear Philips engineers: not tried it out your finished products? Must be true, otherwise you would have seen that the marquee is unreadable!
Conclusion:
Since the lack of radio support battery its necessary for me primarily function function (wake) can not reliably meet, I have returned it, and put myself back on the (tedious) Search ...
