For image quality you need with this lens do not say much: it is beyond any doubt, the image stabilizer and the good light intensity have lots of photos allows that would have been impossible without. Who is on the best quality, should definitely set this objective, there is still no push this focal length class / light intensity with IS, which comes close to the quality of this zoom.
BUT: does not expect that there will you be endless years aside. Who every few years a new can buy - or from time to 300+ in Canon Service may be - (perhaps alternately can replace the IS and the cable) will be happy with it. I had seen it as a future investment in my hobby - and was disappointed.

I ordered a new - with a heavy heart. The first went back because it EXTREME CAs (color fringing [here: blue-belb] - also in the center) had the second went back because it "only" strong CAs had (also up in the center). Both were new lenses, both of which were not to some extent comparable to the picture quality of my defective lens. Obviously one has abolished over the years the quality control. That's it. Never again.
