I bought this fan to fan my series of FX 4100 AMD to replace, although it in one or the other review said that he is not fit for AMD.
So I want to make it relatively short, with the standard fan I had under full load duchaus borderline 74 degrees at 4,000 revolutions. As I recently ripped a Bluray, so 2.5 hours full power to the CPU, I could not get over 42 degrees, and was heard at least by the Arctic CPU cooler as good as nothing.
Installation is no problem in AM3 + socket. One does not have to expand the motherboard but simply mounted it on the existing mounting frame of the socket AM3 +. Then you just let the screws for the brackets completely loose, so so that the threads of the screw so precisely through the mounting bracket penetrates (about 3-4 turns). Then the clamps hook into the socket lugs and tighten alternately from above. Before naturally clean the CPU of the old thermal grease thoroughly. New is not required since it is already applied to the heat sink of the Arctic Freezer.
The fan itself can be, depending on which way you want to have the airflow, simply pull out and turn around since he is in the middle of the heat sink with no effort.
Conclusion: Very strong buy recommendation, for the price probably the best you can get at present.
+ Easy assembly / installation time were with me for about 20 minutes
+ Thermal Compounds already exist on the heatsink
+ Excellent cooling performance
+ Very quiet
