Those who still had no or only a high standing down pad machine, will certainly be satisfied with the WMF 10. The design is undoubtedly unrivaled, the operation simple and easy to use proceeds, the coffee produced is of high quality. Considering these features, however, in comparison to a "more superior" pad machine, the supposed strengths make more out than slight weaknesses.
The coffee has, in spite of good taste, too low a temperature. Unfortunately, it is therefore very cold quickly and needs to be drunk within a short time. It is striking that he has a slightly bitter taste, which can be extremely bitter with increasing cooling. It is in fact generally for each coffee that he loses flavor due Unlocked bitters and coffee acids, but in this me, this is especially noticed. The crema on the other hand manages the WMF 10 very well. All in all tasted not only slightly but significantly better with the coffee of Petra KM 30.27.
The ability to prepare a latte macchiato is indeed a great feature, but the latte macchiato is different in taste not much different from a normal coffee, the little more milk is added. This does not change even when using special espresso pads. Here I expected more. A Latte Macchiato, as you know it from a Tchibo shop, you succeed not nearly with the WMF 10.
Strengths of the WMF 10 I see in the hot water and milk froth function. The hot water is - as the name suggests - really hot. A milk froth function you are looking at many other pad machines, including Petra KM 30.27, in vain. I personal use them as good as not, therefore me a lack of milk froth function in Petra machine was indifferent. Well thought out is also the way how Wassser is refilled. One need not be completely removed the water tank, but can pull it half and pour into water easily.
What I noticed negative beyond:
- When pulling out the Padhalterung the WMF 10 keeps losing a few drops of coffee, which must then be laboriously wiped from the surface.
- Descaling the machine is a bit cumbersome and complicated: There have parts removed and the steam nozzle to be removed. The manual explains the procedure in my opinion, not sufficiently precise.
- The suction cap dissolves occasionally. This cup is filled only a quarter. This is an absolutely fatal design flaws. I do not want to take out the water tank at any coffee and press it firmly to the safety suction cap. Unfortunately, it dissolves constantly with me for a few days. Why WMF has here used no screw cap, is beyond me.
- Since the descaling milk foam unit stops working. I have been assured that the individual components are bolted and also engage properly. The milk is also cold. More potential sources of error does not call me the manual, so I am in a sense on the tube.
Although I am well versed technically, I find that the handling is partly due to many potential sources of error.
