The device is very handy. It has a wire antenna for receiving and for supplying power to a permanently connected cable with AC adapter. The power supply is slightly larger, because a transformer is integrated. The cable is held accordingly thin. The power supply on my device is provided with a UK plug, an adapter to the German standard is. Thus, the power supply structure is somewhat clunky, what we need to especially consider if a insufficient the approximately 1.5m cable length and you have to try an extension cord. Needlessly the part comes despite insufficient grounding therefore as a round connector, so you can not use a flat Euro plug socket.
The sound quality is excellent. Despite the low output power of 4W can be with excellent sound with the 30-step volume scale space. The features MEGA BASS (bass boost) and MEGA Xpand (simulates a Soround effect) are quite nice, a full equalizer but there is no.
The DAB reception is terrific here. I hang the wire antenna just down and it ran without any problems immediately. The automatic station search finds quickly the available channels, you can then select the name.
The FM reception I have only tested briefly - rushes here just like in my old radio.
You can select the digital receiver if the station name, the current title + artist you (or whatever the transmitter mitschickt), wants to see the genre or the current date on a display key. I stay at the title and find the added value compared with the analog technology.
It is striking that DAB here five seconds lags (One notices, for example, in the news, which now start at 18:00:05 instead to point). In addition, the radio needed when changing channels about 3 seconds - thus appears to be a smaller buffer and the result of decoding the audio stream. But bothers me that does not really take advantage of DAB outweigh here significantly.
With my Nexus 5 I could easily make the connection for Bluetooth over NFC. Dranhalten, wait 3 seconds, confirm on the phone and you're done. But even non-NFC enabled devices can easily connect: Simply hold the Bluetooth button and then look to the mobile devices. So you can hear his music stored on the phone with clever speakers or use the radio as a speaker for a laptop. The hands-free function of the radio I have not tested.
The USB function unfortunately leaves much to be desired: According to the manual that comes with iPhone / iPod. I was on the radio also partout not bring play MP3 files from a connected USB stick. The ability to play music from an old-fashioned MP3 player or a USB stick would have been not bad. But since I can stream from a mobile phone via Bluetooth, I can live with it.
The line-in port, I have not tested this, but you can probably use the radio as an active speaker.
The alarm clock I was able to test. As mentioned in other reviews, there is only the weekday settings Mon-Sun, Mon-Fri and Sat-Sun. The Monday-bug is fixed in the way my device. What is striking is the very long snooze for 10 minutes. The sleep function can be set to 90 minutes only in 15-minute increments.
It is very nice that you can set the display brightness between "very light", "just as readable" and can switch "off", with the large button on top. Automatic is not going, but it's also just a keystroke.
The menu system and also the placement of the other keys is more than used to and far from self-explanatory. You have to actually DIN A2 poster of instructions unfold, if you do not want to despair ... But that's only once in the establishment annoying that regularly required main functions are OK.
For my needs, this radio is ideal. I want to hear a lot of radio in good quality, not too often Change all the stations and sometimes I stream music from mobile phone, tablet or laptop. The pity is that USB for non iOS users is virtually useless and a remote control would be in the price category quite pleasant. But all in all I would recommend this quite Radio.
