From its technical data reads the Y530 as the G510 available for some time. Display size, resolution, frequency, Camera, Battery ... at first glance, it looks almost as if you had the successful entry-level model only missed a more modern garb. A closer look reveals, however, that Huawei has done more than merely auszufrischen design.
MEMORY / APPS
The memory of the Y530 is relatively tight with 4 GB as system and preinstalled apps already consume a large part. Unlike other manufacturers Huawei, however, allows the user to move apps to the SD card (up to 32GB). However, this is only possible with their own apps. The preinstalled apps can not be moved:
1. Settings> Device (More ...)> Memory> default location (press and hold until message "Warning ..." appears)> OK> "Internal Memory" switch to SD card (works only with inserted microSD card)
2. Settings> Manage applications> Select App> "Move to SD Card" button
ANDROID 4.3 and User Interface
First, the relatively recent Android 4.3 should be mentioned, the Huawei donated two optical surfaces. In addition to the known "Emotion UI" has the Y530 is the first device from Huawei also a "Simple UI" that visually is with its colorful tiles on Microsoft's "Windows Phone". This should make it easier, especially the elderly use. Most will, however, remain with the Android-typical surface.
Since Huawei waived the usual app menu, the various Apps frolicking on the individual homescreens. Because you can create up to 7 home screens at Y530 and the Apps can be conveniently grouped into folders, this does not interfere further. The pre-installed apps are already grouped already useful. To create a folder yourself, you just have only one app to another slide, immediately appears a folder in which there are now BOTH Apps. Now even assign meaningful names such as "Office" or "Games" and everything is tidied.
BATTERY
Although the replaceable battery in comparing two for G510 is the same size, he should think out loud Huawei longer by 70%. Maybe the value is somewhat overstated. But the fact is that both the new processor, as well as the new operating system Android 4.3, compared to the respective predecessors are working storm-saving. With daily 10-15 min. 45-60 min and telephone. Internet (via SIM card / Datenflat) I come (to 24 hours) on well 4-5 days. If I do not use Internet I turn off the data connection.
[Update 10.07.2014] In May, I bought a second machine for my mother, which is only used for a short phone calls, photos, videos and calendar. With this usage the battery approximately 7-10 days, and it is also switched on around the clock and will be charged at 10-15% capacity keeps.
POSITIVE
While the display offers HD resolution, but works absolutely clear. For missed calls and incoming messages, there is a small LED that flashes every second. Even on an FM radio was thought the headphones double as antenna. I personally like the fact that Huawei continues to use sensor keys instead of buttons to move the display. Thus, the full 4.5 inches of the screen for the really important are retained. Also GPS and WLAN function properly. The binuclear processor works absolutely afloat in normal applications. Dimensions and weight are little fallen a little compared to the G510. The housing Improves appearance, as it suggests the price. While the black version is ribbed on the back, the lid of the white device is smooth. However, the processing works in both cases, good to very good. No wobbling, creaking!
NEUTRAL
It is also a normal mini-Sim required (so no micro- or nano-Sim). The radiation has increased slightly from 0.591 to 0.649, where there is clearly more intense radiation devices. The automatic brightness control helps to save electricity, but does not work continuously, but at certain stages. The "intelligent" sensor keys are only illuminated when it is dark in the area (so do not think they were defective when you take the device in normal daylight in operation). The camera is safe with its 5 MP not up to date. The photos are all suitable for snapshots. Images for eternity, such as wedding photos, so you should do better with a good camera. The display has a "normal" glass, so no scratch-resistant Corning (Gorilla) or Schott glass. This should face the low price but no one expected. Music in MP3 format runs over the preinstalled "Google Play Music" player. WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS were short for testing at - everything works fine.
NEGATIVE
Depending on demand and usage behavior might be called the 5 MP camera or the small memory here at most. In my normal operation but I had here no reason to any complaints. For compute-intensive games could however quickly reach the limits of 512MB processor.
CONCLUSION:
The Y530 currently costs just 4 euros more than the G510 (status 13.03.2014). New Android is 4.3 (instead of 4.1), the additional surface "Simple UI", the better energy-efficiency, and of course the modern look of the device. However, the latter is a matter of taste. I personally liked the white version of the Y530, which is somewhat reminiscent of his black display frame to the current device from Sony or HTC. It's all there, what you need. Only my music in WMA format is not running with the preinstalled player, but there's so plenty of alternatives for download. Thanks to the integrated FM radio you can listen for the latest sports results without breaking the Datenflat or having to rely on a Wi-Fi ... in World Cup 2014 sooo important ;-) Those looking for a good smartphone with a large display and case want to pay attention to his wallet, gold with the Y530. For me, the Y530 was certainly the right decision!
