Well, I thought to myself. That was years ago. Will you give SE again ne chance. (Another reason: Nokia is responsible for the construction of Internet censorship infrastructure in Iran, but only at the margins)
So I have got all the facilities looked at, and then for the W715 (same as W705 except the Vodafone branding) decided. On paper, can all really be proud:
- GPS
- WIFI
- UMTS
- Second camera for video calling
- Acceleration sensors (display tilts with the phone, pedometer and other gadgets ...)
So far so good. It should perhaps be mentioned that I wanted to use only occasionally texting the phone to call and. The other facilities offered are just nice to have. I've only taken because I wanted to have the opportunity to possibly times etc. the GPS for Geocaching to use.
Let's talk about the positive aspects:
1. Menu guidance, display (readability under all circumstances perfectly) and the upper control buttons enable a good handling in all situations. The arrangement of options in riders makes sense and is just for clarity.
2. Many automatic supplement functions, how it is used by modern Internet browsers, etc. If you type a number, it displays choices of numbers that you have called in advance / of which one was ever called or which have been in storage. When writing text messages the same: With certain phrases he suggests the next word before, etc.
Something saves time and you get the feeling that was thought along in development.
3. The other party sounds crystal clear and is also sufficiently loud.
So much for the better. As the note indicates, the list of negative qualities is a bit longer:
1. Apart from the front panel as such is the processing of the phone a disaster: The upper buttons creak, the entire sliding mechanism is shaky (and that's putting it nicely), the attachment of the battery cover is n joke (with 2 small clips up and down) for which there are only SIM coupla metal tabs that hold the card. I did in all my previous Nokia, even the very cheap better seen.
2. Only the upper part of the upper shell is made of aluminum. The lower, where the keys sit, is plastic. This not only looks modest, it also feels strange, when the upper part of the finger on the "cold" aluminum and lower on the plastic is.
3. Some menu items appear arranged sinnfrei: Why, for example, the control of Bluetooth and WLAN in "Settings" (where it belongs, in my opinion), I want to but the GPS chip on or off I have to the main menu "Location-based Services "and then on" Settings ".
Moreover, I find poorly solved the control with the speed dial. In all my previous mobile phones (and there were some!) Gave it, the key to hold a long time. Here I must briefly then press call button and. In my opinion, totally unnecessary!
4. After pushing (What with one hand at a little larger hands to acrobatic feat degenerates) are the lower keys to the fore. These are very small and rubberized. In particular, the top row can actually operate only with the fingernail, which I find very unpleasant. As mentioned above, the pressure point is good, but not really the indemnified.
5. The camera is no better than the equally noisy and low-contrast 2MP my Nokia 6300. I do not mind really, because I always take this as good as ever, but it should be mentioned!
6. The acceleration sensor makes a sometimes a spanner in the works: One can in the image display tilt the phone to be wide pictures also to look cross. But if you have images imported from other phones and photographed this already cross, they appear in portrait mode and full screen rotated. If you wanted to turn your phone to view the image right side up, the image is also rotated and appear small and still on the side.
Incidentally, you can rotate the phone only counterclockwise here. If you tilt it to the right, nothing happens.
7. and the most serious point: The phone seems problems with the memory stick to have. Much more to the access to these. Sometimes it has the midst of it, without making something, the background image, as well as personalized ringtones and caller images "forgotten". After switching off and on again, it is with almost 100% probability of event.
On my Nokia 6300 I was able to take out the card, another poke and then when I had my back in there, he took over the old settings. This phone manages not even without doing something to remember the settings. I guess times that it ne cold solder joint or are somewhere in the region of the memory stick drive something.
Conclusion:
The phone definitely has its good points. These mainly include the small speakers / the "earpiece" as well as the overall good operating system. The equipment to be proud of. All this is only useful for anything when Sony Ericsson slips up in quality assurance and the haptics. Especially the former is really unreasonable. Will certainly take back at least 6 years before I draw a new Sony Ericsson into consideration!
