Double Best Of: Seasons (CD)

Customer Review

With his friend Alain Souchon for text, Laurent Voulzy is a pair of singers / authors / composers in the French incredible pop and scored a tube almost every quarter since the mitan 1970 until at least the end of 1990.
Under his name, has long Laurent wolf primarily written and published "45s" Summer (often "EPs"), collected over time in various compilations. 1 CD of this album two and a half hours makes full account of this time, since 'Rockollection' (short version, for the first edition of this double CD proposed bonus facsimile of the inaugural Max's career Voulzy ) until 'Le Soleil Donne', including the new title vintage 2003 'Here Where I am going'. This first disc is downright impeccable, although for my taste tracks 8-10 are a bit below, including the sketch 'Surfin' Jack '(compromise between a classic rockabilly and' Barbra Ann "by the Beach Boys or is- that the 'Marylène' Martin Circus?). Byrds, Beatles and Bee Gees are notable musical inspirations then.
The second CD covers a period (which continues today), during which Voulzy was first released albums. Several titles suffer from the priority given to synthesizers (strange for a virtuoso Rickenbacker!) To the sound dated today, while the album 'April', which provides half of the title, was not a complete success . But 'The Power of Flowers', 'Amélie Colbert', 'Slow Down' and the mantra 'I Want You' are among the best titles of a set without true slag.
