London Calling (CD)

Customer Review

For nearly thirty years this jewel came out, everything was firmly told time and time again on "London Calling", the press and others accused of having all the names of possible bird ("best rock album of all time "" best dual interplanetary album "," best rock album art "...). It is true that in 1979, rid of the legacy of its past punk group (also the bustling energy that sometimes messy, where the Sex Pistols excelled more), the Clash delivered to the face of the world a brilliant epitome of what that rock music has brought for ages. All genres are passed through the mill, from punk-rock to pop, passing through rockabilly, funk (annunciator rap) and soul, jazz, and even reggae, delivering the nineteen occasion securities pure and raw emotion, some memorable nuggets ("London Calling", "Clampdown," "The Guns Of Brixton", to name a few), and a major finding: no title is throwing ! Difficult exercise if it is already for a single disc ... So for a double, it is an achievement!
Obviously, for some purists (including the time), "London Calling" is the Judas of punk, high ultimate betrayal can not digest ... It is in my opinion not understand the extraordinary musical revolution that represents " London Calling "with its redefinition (and no math!) of a rock 'n' roll which must now integrate all facets of modern music, as long as it is cut in sincerity, energy and the emotion.
Moreover, rarely album (and double, to boot!) Will have been such unity in diversity (unlike the mess a bit wobbly, although qu'affranchi any complex Sandinista!).
According to the grand final of this disc intact class, but also very generous both musical ("London Calling" open the door to many formations and the great era of World Music) than human (that unwavering feeling Clash represented the flagship revolts, the spokesman of the excluded, and the megaphone of universal human values: sharing, integration and solidarity).
